So I have been dying for some potato soup and have a box of potato flakes my mom gave me. Has anyone made a potato soup using potato flakes? I am out of potatoes and wont go buy some, cause we are going out of town tomorrow. So I was wondering if anyone tried this? Recipe?

I've never done it but I found these online~
Potato Soup
This one is so easy you’ll wonder why you never thought of it before!
To four cups of boiling water, add 4 teaspoons chicken bouillon or soup base. Add ½ to 1 cup of instant mashed potato – flakes or granules, doesn’t matter which. Sprinkle in some dried minced onion and parsley for color, and there you have it!
You might want to garnish it with some thinly-sliced cucumbers or sour cream.

Thanks all for the responses.
I decided to make my own recipe and I am eating it as we speak and its SOOOOO Good.
I made a big batch... Cost less then $5 and feed 5 adults and 2 small kids and still have enough for lunch tomorrow for me and dh... Not bad... Next time I will experiment with more spices to kick it up a little.

4 cans of chicken broth
1 can evaporated milk
enough potato flakes to make it as think or thin as you like
cheddar cheese (about 1 1/2 cups)
6 slices of bacon
salt to taste
Garnish with sour cream, cheese, bacon and green onions if you like.
