Prepare for Emergencies

Beautiful scenery and exciting destinations make driving throught the Finger Lakes region (or anywhere) a pleasure. Still, it is a good idea to be prepared for any bumps you may encounter.

The American Red Cross recommends travelling with the following emergency car kit:

~ Battery powered radio and extra batteries
~ Flashlight and extra batteries
~ Blanket
~ Booster cables
~ Fire extinguisher (5 lb., A-B-C type)
~ First aid kit and manual
~ Bottled water and non-perishable high energy foods, such as granola bars, raisins and peanut butter
~ Maps
~ Shovel
~ Tire repair kit and pump
~ Flares

Great post Diana. With everyone traveling on family vacations this time of year, we all need to have some sort of emergency kit in our vehicles. I always keep a small first aid kit in the car. I guess I need to update it.
