So as we are restarting the quilting club. I want to get back into it. I haven't quilted in probably 4 years  and when I did quilt I would use my grandmothers extra quilting frame. Yes, I hand quilt. So, my question to all of you is, what kind of frame do you use?

I've only ever used something along these lines

however i'm really looking at getting something like this

but, i would make it. Not buy it.

So what do you recommend? use?

I've always wanted one of those huge rectangular quilting frames that holds a queen size quilt and I hope to have one someday. :ponder:

I also hand quilt and I just use the round hoops, 14" to 16". Most of the time I use the 14" wood round hoop since it sits in my lap easily and I can sit and quilt in the living room chair while dh watches TV.

Here is a link to the type of hoop that I use:

I do have one that is on a stand and is oval but I have yet to find a comfortable chair to sit in while using it. My back always starts hurting when I try to sit at it and try to quilt.:spool:

~Well, I won't be making anything larger than a lap quilt(4'X5') because of space issues. My sewing stuff is in my eat-in kitchen and there's barely room for a small kitchen table let alone a quilt in progress. For now I hand-quilt on wooden hoops. I got two sizes(12X18 and 18x24 ovals) at a thrift store for $1 and they're working fine for smallish projects.~

I had dh make the one that sits on the floor and hold a queen size quilt that when you rolled it it had a rattech that helt it tight...It hurt my back to use..even tilted...have material list for pvc one that he also made but gave it to friend when we moved to a smaller house...It was nice because could put it under the bed when not in use....even with a quilt in it...I have quilted most of mine by machine...anymore...

I have a small 15x15 inch pvc square that I use. Okay, I have used it on very rare occasions. Perhaps I'll join the quilt club and pull it out again.

Darn it! I've been inspired.
