Hi all. I too have never posted here before, but feel I am close to bubbling over.
As some of you may know we didn't make it home for Thanksgiving. That was a major letdown. All my family was there and some I haven't seen in 3 years.
It all started on Wednesday last week when i dropped the garage remote and broke it. Stanly doesn't make openers anymore so now we need to buy a whole new remote. $200
Then I was getting ready to go to Omaha and went to go pack up the car, flat tire. Second one in 1 week. I went to change the flat and couldn't get the tire off and couldn't put it back on either. Called the garage they came out to fix it. $15
When i was driving the car into town it felt like it was driving funny, but I thought it might be because there was a doughnut on the car.(Tire that is much smaller than the others) Came home got the car all packed up and want off. The car was still driving funny and now the check engine light was on. We took it to a friend's who has an auto shop. They said we need to take it to a dealer. Nearest one 120 miles away in St. Louis. Ok so now we are not going to see my family and I'm very upset but dealing with it. We bought an extended warenty on the car so everything is ok. (we think)
We were worried we will have to drive the car so far. Call on the roadside assistance so they come and pick up th car and all is well. (we think)
A perent is upset about something going on in Girl Scouts and is saying bad things about me. I'm very upset about this as this is a VOLUNTEER job. and I am not the only parent who can be a leader, contrary to what they this Girl Scouts is NOT synonomus with FRee babysitting! Did I mention it is volunteer?
Ok so here is the kicker. The car people call and there was only 1 thing that was covered with the warenty. It was $130 the rest was not. Here is the total$1204.40 For the car and labor.
I'm freaking out and yes, we have called other places it is the same amout or much the same. This is clearing out our savings. Oh well Christmas is an overdone holiday anyway.
I'm looking at the bright side, We have the $$ and we have a roof, We have our health. I know these are all great, wonderful things. I know many people don't have those. but we were starting to dig ourselves out of the hole we were in from this summer.
I'm so bummed.
I just feel that I'm about to break. Please keep us in your prayers so Michael and I will have the strength to get usthrough this.
Thanks
Marcia

I'm so sorry that you were unable to go and see your family for Thanksgiving and that there are so many things going wrong. I know how you feel about missing family, the last time I saw my sister was Christmas 22 years ago. My secret wish for Christmas for years was to be able to spend it with her. I'll be praying for you!

Oh Marcia, I'm sorry for all this crud! I hope you pushed hard on everyone of those keys typing your post out (you type like me.;) )
and got some of your frustration out. Life is full of these unexpected stupid things( got one of those myself yesterday with a shock of needing to come up with $1850 for my son in Jan).

Yep we'll get through it, yep it stinks and yep here's a big hug.:hug2:

I'm sorry you didn't get to see your family, how disappointing. I've had problems with the Cub Scouts around here, I know how frustrating it can be. I hope when you make it to Omaha you'll let me know. I'm not too far off the beaten path. :hug2:

Oh Marcia,
I truly understand, especially the Girl Scout thing. I volunteer to do the children's choir and Christmas play at church as was told off by a grandma the other day. Just made my day!!! There is something about being a volunteer that means we can be treated terrible! I am so sorry that you have hit this bad spot, but I do hope it gets better.
