My mouth dropped to the floor last night when my family night that was suppose to be "having a good time" turned into (for me anyway) worry when my family night ended.. running into Super Walmart real quick for a couple of items which obviously milk was on the list and I saw the price for the store brand..I told my dh we still have a gallon at home and I'm not paying that price..Then when we went to leave the store a woman with a few bags of groceries leaning up against a post outside the store I looked at her and smile as I walked away she asked me for a ride to a place I never heard of I politely told her no..I've never had that happen before..It will be a very rough ride for all of us I'm afraid!

A few years ago I had just gotten off work and was getting in my car and some old lady walked up to me and was quite adamant I was going to give her a ride to walmart. She was upset that I said no. The nerve.

when the price of milk started going up I started buying powdered milk (on sale and/or in bulk) to use when cooking. THAT cut my milk buying in half. Hubby and I love milk. We don't drink it as often now. I buy it when I find it on sale and that is it. I also buy whole milk and water it down by 1/4-1/2.

Hubby laughed out loud when I told him milk was on sale this week for $2.99.

Milk $3 on sale He was laughing and shaking his head.

I was going to pick some up when I noticed that Aldi's (where I was before heading to that store that had it on sale) Aldi's had their milk priced at $2.94 a gallon.
I also picked up three dozen eggs at 89 cents a dozen while at Aldi's too.

Powdered milk is not cheaper here..I could start mixing 1/2 milk 1/2 powdered milk again..Walmart milk is cheaper than any other store other than Aldi's which wasn't anywhere near where we were at last night..

the last couple times I have went to Buehlers they had gallons of milk that were set to expire in a couple days to .99. As much as we go through I bought 5 and froze them then when i went two weeks later they had it again and I bought 5 more used the first and froze the rest. I think I have 1 left in the freezer. My nephew went to get milk the other day out of my fridge and says "did you know your milks expired" i said its not and he said it says "july 7th on it!" I may have to let it thaw a day or so, but for .99 compared to over $4 thats fine by me

Dh and I stopped at the grocery store last night to buy milk and bread and the prices were so high on the milk that I called my parents on the phone to tell them about it! The cheapest was $3.99 and it went up from there to $5.99 on sale for the organic! I buy the store brand and $3.99 is expensive imho! The last gallon of milk that we bought I got for free from Walgreens with my reward dollars there and dh whined about the $3.59 price despite me not having to pay for it. He thought it would be cheaper in the grocery store, but I explained that I found out earlier this summer that WG sells it cheaper. These prices are ridiculous and getting worse daily!

What's so strange around here, is that the TG LEE brand, which sells for about $5 in the supermkts, is on sale again this week at CVS for $3.29. But anyhow, the regular price for it is usually about $.10 less than the store brands everyday.

We finally got an Aldi's in the next town over, and I was thrilled that milk was only $1.99. Well that only lasted a couple of months after opening, and now it's $2.99. Unless I'm buying other things, which most stuff is higher priced than what I get with my coupon deals, so I won't be, it's just not worth the 20 minute ride, or the price of gas. :screwy: When we 1st started going there, I told my hubby, it would be worth the trip, even to just stock and freeze that $1.99 milk. I maybe should call them and see if the price went back down. If not, I'm going to do that trick of watering down whole milk. I'll start with trying 1/3 and see.

We just gotta do, what we gotta do!

Our local store has it on sale this week for 2.79. We also have a program at this store where you buy 10 gallons get one free. It's a good store, they have classes for people wanting to try couponing.
I take that back on the free one. I just remembered thay had to change the program to buy 10 get a 3.00 off coupon. Something about guidelines where they can't give away free milk or something. I forgot about the coupon because on my receipt yesterday it said I had 8 of 10 gallons. The program just changed a few weeks ago.

If someone sees my brain running around would you give it back please!!;)

Milk here in Canada (where I am at least) ranges from $4.49 to $8.96 for 4L / gallon. I'm going to guess the higher price was for the organic or premium milk? Eggs are close to $3/dozen here too :(

I was given wonderfully useful coupons for milk $2.50 off/4L so I am going to take advantage of them and buy the milk on sale here at the discount grocery store and freeze the bags! We don't use a lot of milk but each time I've wanted to go buy some - I cringe at the dairy counter and walk away.
