I have a nice sweater that I no longer need in my wardrobe, so I want to resize/refurbish it for my 9 yr old dd...anyone have any ideas how I can do this?Thanks

Take a shirt or another sweater you like for her and trace the shape of it as pattern pieces. That's what I do if I don't have a pattern available.
