Who watched her speech last night?....thoughts?

I thought it was very well written, well delivered and most of all classy. We haven't seen much class (from either side) and it was refreshing to finally see some.

She raised a lot of great points and I'm even more excited to see her on the ticket after last night's speech.

I "heart" Sarah!

I just heard that her teleprompter broke and she had to wing a good portion of it.

I thought that she did a fabulous job. I didn't stay up to watch all of it, but she did great!

She handled herself with dignity, grace and class. The part I loved the most was her humor!! :):tay:

She knocked it out of the park. I'm glad people were reminded of what she's accomplished in her career. I loved the line about selling the government plane on ebay. She's one tough cookie. I'm still holding my breath though...hoping she'll be able to hold her own against Biden.

Biden was interviewed this morning on the "today show" and he seemed tongue tied b/c of her! :)

The best way to win against Biden is to remain silent as he inserts both feet into his own mouth.

She had a good speech. I don't support her, or any of the lot running, but she did well enough on her speech.

She did wonderful! It was so refreshing to see a down to Earth, approachable, human politician. I "heart" her too!!

Side note - DH and I died laughing when her youngest daughter was holding the baby and started "fixing" his hair. Too cute!

I think for the VP candidate of a party whose main criticism of the other side is lack of experience and substance, she did little to show them up.

Take away the jabs and she didn't have much except decent delivery.

She also seemed to have forgotten that she may have said "thanks but no thanks" on the bridge to nowhere, but she said "yes, please" to the $243 million in earmarked funds associated with it.

I liked her speech......liked the part about family......liked where she said she wasn't here to impress the the media big wigs.....

And really liked her humor on the hockey mom:

"Whats the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom???? Lipstick".

:yeah:

Also, I didn't hear a lot of issues brought up. For instance, she says she is a "maverick" and will take on the establishment in Washington. How is she going to do that? What is she going to change? How would she handle the economy? The war in Iraq? Healthcare? Social Security? Those are things I want to hear about. There seems to be a lot of fluff and personality, but not enough substance in what she's saying.

I'm beginning to wonder when this shared delusion began! Palin is criticizing Obama's lack of experience? Is the objectively verifiable truth so easily manipulated and repackaged? Seriously? Her education and experience as a mayor and 18 month governor supercedes his? That is delusional. I don't understand how so many people can hear this and not raise their eyebrows. Hello?

I thought she did fantastic! :tay: I loved her speech and am excited to see what is ahead! I :heartsm: Sarah, too!

Those in doubt, give her some time, last night was only her first speech. I know we'll be hearing a lot more on where she stands on everything and plans for the country, SOON!

I watched it, and I can honestly say I was willing to watch her since she had the chance to express her views and say what needs to be said and I was willing to listen with open ears and an open mind. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. And my opinion on it has nothing to do with this party or that party or where my vote lies. It had to do with extreme hypocrisy, outright exaggerations to total bs, and lack of actually taking the moment to tell the people how she stands on certain issues and what they as a political team will do to better our country.

Oh she was coy and funny with her little jokes about lipstick being the difference of a pit bull and a hockey mom, which as a woman that kind of offends me, because I can tell you, I don't need lipstick to be a woman or a mom, nor does that mean when I'm not wearing it I'm some kind of heartless pitbull.

I would have rather heard more discussing on the important things, than the jokes and jabs that really are unnecessary. If she wants to act like she's the better person for the job, and act like she has morals and such, then she needs to leave the sarcastic jokes and trash talking alone and actually be the better person standing on her own merit instead lowering herself to that degree.

And I for one, and highly offended of this constant idea and highbrow thought that just because she's a woman and a mom she's going to get the votes of all the women and moms out there. Not this woman. Not this mom.

Maybe instead of reverting to the standard republican tactic of slandering, talking trash and taking jabs at the other party she could have spent that time talking about the issues that are plaguing this country. The issues that are discussed at the dinner table every night with worry in every average American home. Maybe she could have spent more time touching base on those things and how she will help make them happen, instead of talking trash about the "styrofoam greek columns" of the other party. That little comment alone spoke volumes to me of the kindergarten, playground type of behavior she wants to take on. I wasn't impressed and I'm not interested in that. I'm interested in issues at hand, not her senseless diatribe about the stage of the other party's convention.

What I felt most of all (and this isn't about my vote ,just personal feeling) is that she is like me. SN kid, yep, NRA, yep, love my kids but tough as nails, yep. From a personal standpoint I felt like it was a kindred soul up there. I realize others would feel differently, personalities being what they are, but she could be one of my pals (at least her persona could).

This is exactly the sort of thing that I was referring to in my post on trying to find a middle ground to get some real, important work done in the government. I'm so sick of this sort of behavior from both sides. :puke: Thanks for your post, I agree with ya. ;)

I caught the last half of her speech. I really liked her and what she had to say. I think it was one of the few political speeches I've ever heard where I could really identify with the speaker and felt like she was a "real" person and not just looking for a vote.

TBQH, I don't see a lot of political analysis for someone who claims to have walked into the speech with an open mind. I haven't seen the speech (as a disclaimer) but it looks like to me most of your complaints are a little overblown and are over things that could be taken this way or that depending on your party affiliation and/or mood. There are quite a few other women and mothers here who seem to have enjoyed the speech quite a bit.

So, did Sarah Palin completely avoid every political issue that a voter might find interesting? Or did you miss it? I'm just wondering, because I have no interest in watching it and I'm counting on y'all to fill me in.

She definitely has a likable image, warm and funny, and seems comfortable in the public eye. Still not sure of who I'm voting for, but I was pleasantly surprised by the way she presented herself. She doesn't seem like your typical politician, which I find refreshing.
