"Scotti spiked a fever of 104 last night, so at the 8:30 visit, she was packed in ice... She had bags of crushed ice on her neck, under her arm pits, and across her groin area and the nurses were running her IV's thru bags of ice... She is still on the morphine drip, which is controlling the pain enough to let her rest well... She was asleep when it was time for the family to visit this morning, so they let her sleep... today they are mixing a protein drink supplement with her icee's that she likes and hope that works to help raise her protein level... also, feeding her steak, etc... Her OR visits always seem to cause a rise in temperature... but the doctors are finished excising flesh from the burned areas (PRAISE GOD)... so the need for blood should be diminished... they are replacing the cadaver skin with pig skin... and will continue to take skin from places on Scotti that were not burned to cover the areas that need skin... Connie said that right now the focus is on eating to get the protein level up...
Scotti didn't feel well enough last night to listen to cards and e-mails, but she did smile when Connie told her there was a "box" of stuff for her to look at today and e-mails and cards...... Thank you, thank you for all of your prayers and the other wonderful things you are doing to let the whole family know how much you care.... Please pray today for Scotti's protein level, appetite, healing, pain management, and spirits.... and for Scotti's family to have reassuring faces and strong shoulders and comforting hands when they enter Scotti's room..... thanks"
