Semi Homemade BBQ sauce

Recipe Description
A tangy BBQ sauce, using things you usually have on hand
Preparation Steps:
Level of Difficulty:
Easy
Time Needed:
5 minutes
Ingredients:
1 can condensed Tomato soup
1 tbsp. vinegar
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. chili powder
1tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp celery seed
dash of pepper
(optional) a drop or two (to taste) of bottled hickory smoke flavoring ( I don't use this--I like just sweet and tangy)
Serves:
Directions:
Just mix it all together, let it sit in fridge until ready for use, so that flavors mingle and brown sugar dissolves.

Try it without the hickory flavoring first. I think it's good alone.

As a fellow Michigander (now living in Alabama), I too love a sweet and tangy BBQ but have a really hard time in Alabama finding a BBQ sauce without hickory flavor, so I end up making my own sauce.

This one sounds like a keeper... I'm definitely going to try this one. Thanks for the recipe.

Thanks! I've been wanting a homemade barbecue sauce recipe for some time. I'm going to boil this mixture up for 5 minutes, then pour it into a sterile glass bottle.
Barbecue sauce is just so good on baked chicken or pork chops!

I'm going to try this one too--thanks...I don't care for hickory in my sauce either.
