With summertime here and watermelon abound, I am curious as to the shelf life of fruits once cut.  How long is watermelon, cantaloupe, etc. good for once it has been sliced open?  I did a Yahoo search, but couldn't find any useful information.  Any info is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!   :chef:  :apple:  :ban:  :cherry:  :lemon:

Your extension office can help with this if you give them a call. On the web their site will end in ".edu".

A lot depends on the ripeness of the fruit when you cut it, how long it was exposed to air before you refrigerated it and the temperature of your frig (hopefully UNDER 40-degrees F - use a refrig thermometer to be sure). About 1 or 2 weeks is good. If it shows signs of spoilage, through it away.

I don't know, lol. I just did a google search and that was the best one I could find. Just did another & yes it is. Here's some more info on fruit, lol.

Yes Carrie, Wegman's is a grocery store, very high end here in NY.
