I am worried that we would need to grill something if our electricity went out. Charcoal seems to go so quickly for us, and we don't have a propane grill. Should I buy a few cords of firewood, just in case? The other consideration I have is, I don't want to be providing homes for spiders and snakes in my stack of firewood. Is there a good way to prevent this?

I wonder if it would be worth it to put the wood inside some of those Ziplock big bags?

My suggestion is to buy a propane camping cook stove (about $50) and a few small bottles of propane.
