Our yard was seriously neglected by the previous owners. Everything is just a wreck. There are tons of leaves from Fall, trees need trimming, shrubs need cutting back etc.
Today I only did one small section of the yard and I bagged 10 bags of leaves.
I'll have to share the little racket our city has.
Leaves need to be bagged in special recycle paper bags. These cost 3$ for 5. Now if that wasn't enough, you then have to purchase stickers. The stickers cost 5$ for 20. You fill the bags and put the sticker on or your leaves won't be picked up.
I guess there is a fall city leaf pickup, but that doesn't help me now. lol
I can't wait to see how many bags I'll haul out of the yard.
I'd love to compost, but don't have a nice section to do it. :(

Anyway, my body aches. I'll be making a new video....RATP (rake away the pounds) :toothy:

aw!!! Sorry about that, it does sound like no fun at all! I have a lot to do in my property too, we bought this place 4 years ago and haven't gotten to any of the improvements we wanted to do yet. So i am going to get out there and really yard clean in the next few weeks. I don't have leaves, but we do have weeds bad. And in order to get the sod we want, we need to get the weeds out before we lay it down. and i need to get all the rocks out too that are peeking out from the ground, we have brick to lay in the driveway (we had flat stone, but it shifts too much, and we need something because otherwise we are in mud in that driveway in the rain seasons). I wanted to plant seedlings i started indoors...but kitties destroyed those... and i have some shrubs and roses to plant. I have my work cut out for me for sure. :)

LOL!!! RATP!!!

Wow, that is quite an expense to get rid of the leaves! Once you get caught up and maintain it won't be so bad. We used to live where there were maple trees up and down both sides of the laneway, tons of leaves......one of the older gentlemen in the community used to live there years ago and said, Oh just leave them, when you mow the lawn in the spring it is wonderful mulch for the grass!" Don't know if it is true or not but we always had a beautiful lawn, naturally no lawn care. And by the way, that's the way it had to be because I was NOT raking 4 acres of lawn!!!:D

Love that video idea Sara. Yesterday I spread yucky hay on the bank that does down the driveway. I am achy too. As I was doing it, I was wondering if this counts as exercise. LOL. I love yard work when its nice and neat and all I have to do is pull a few weeds, but when its a mess (like SO's farm) it does seem hopeless.

Good luck on your yard. I am sure it will be beautiful when you're done.

Sara, welcome to my world too. We just got the leaves all raked up (with don't have to pay for our recycling) and the yard was looking so nice.

We have a park across from us with large maple and oak trees. I love having a park there because no home will ever be able to be built there, but the trees all have leaves that fall off in the fall.

Well we got a large east wind all day yesterday and last night. I now have most of that wonderful parks leaves, UGH!!!

I'm not raking again, I'm going to mulch them with the lawn mower.

There is one good thing to look at through all of this Sara - you'll make money with your video and you'll rake those pounds off in no time!!! :toothy: And when your all finishing raking, you'll have a wonderful yard.

I posted some pics in the gallery. It shows some parts of my yard and how badly overgrown it is. I'm happy we moved here in the beginning of spring, so we could get a good jump on getting it in shape.
