Well, we have finally crashed. It appears that our only way out of the debt abyss is going to be filing bankruptcy. We consulted a financial advisor who recommended it. We cannot refinance anymore. We have no other resources. Credit counseling payments end up being more than our monthly payments now which are more than we make.

We are not behind on anything - yet. We consulted an attorney and she suggested we file. I am so depressed that we are in this fix. We are not living a high lifestyle. Our cars are old, and paid for. My kids were consignment or Walmart. My clothes come from ebay. We don't have a boat or RV or take extravagant vacations - we mostly visit family.

I hestitate to post this because I don't want to get flamed by those who are struggling to get out of debt. This is not a decision we have made lightly. If there was some other way we would take it.

We could use prayers.

Cheryl, I'm sorry you're feeling so desperate. We've been there in the past as well. Do you have anything you could sell that would help you pay off just one small debt? If you did (say a piece of furniture or something) that might cut you enough slack to be able to make the other payments. I hope you get everything worked out to where you can live with it. :hugz:

ETA: I didn't mean to sound like we've filed for bankruptcy, what I meant was that we've been in the place that felt like we had no other options. We didn't file, managed to dig ourselves out of it, but it took us a long time. I hope you find your solutions Cheryl.

I'm so sorry for all you're going through. But, try to look at it as a fresh start. Learn from it, and move on. That's all we can do sometimes. Good luck!

Cheryl, you should not be feeling ashamed. There are many, many people in the same situation as you. Look at it as a chance to get a fresh start. :hugz:
