I read on this site Canada Student Loans Act section 19.1 that loans cannot be collected on after 6 years, in Canada anyways.

What happens if they do try and collect?

If a payment is made after the 6 years due to collectors calling, does it actually reset this limitation period?

Do these debts still stay on your credit? What actually happens at the 6 year mark?

Just wondering because I've been making small payments for 8 years getting nowhere. Left work and fell into default, made a payment to attempt to bring it into good standing which it did not...
