Polly I just made these. terrific! Thanks so much for sharing. I can't handle grain well but I swear these were so good they were worth a bit of discomfort. Definately a keeper! Thanks for sharing so many great food ideas!

I've never seen Indian tacos with flour in the filling. The filling is the same as a regular taco, just served on fry bread instead of a taco shell or tortilla.

It looks like Taco Bell uses a crispy shell that's similar to a regular taco shell, but thicker. That's not fry bread.

I haven't had a TB chalupa, so I could be wrong.

Whatever, I'm sure this recipe is tasty.

The chalupa is slightly crisp on the outside and chewy breadlike inside. It tastes like fry bread but is thinner than the fry bread I make. They are my fav if we go to Taco Bell.

I'm not sure but I think they use fillers with their ground beef. Maybe that is why the flour? It was the same texture as their meat.

Spirit Deer Chalupas are delicious :) We were at a festival that had the thick fry bread tacos this summer. I'd be hard pressed to decide which was better.
