I stumbled across this site and have been having so much fun looking at all the tea party ideas. I realize they are trying to sell stuff, but the ideas are wonderful!
When dd had her golden birthday we had a formal tea party. We sent engraved invitations, my boys dressed up and escorted (and announced each girl) as they arrived. We had finger sandwiches, frosted grapes and a bonnet cake. I had floating candles for a centerpiece, and served the tea on linen tabelcloth, china and silver! We asked the girls to come dressed in their Sunday best. Most of the moms wanted to stay- they all came in and looked around - most stating that they had never been to a real "tea".
I think I might have to start this on a regular basis.
