Well another new week is here on our homesteads and it promises to be a very busy week. Its a bit dull here today, with high winds and cooler temperatures. Last night we had another thunderstorm late in the night and a tiny bit of rain, not enough though.

Being as its Sunday, I won't be doing much. Dh is taking the kids horseback riding in a few minutes so it will be nice and quiet here.

I need to throw in a small load of clothes and get them dried for tomorrow, because were going into the city tomorrow and I won't be able to get any done then.

Once thats done, I'm going to spend a quiet day reading and probably do some quilting.

Thats the buzz on my homestead.

Another Sunday already. It is going to be extremely hot today.:( I can't wait until fall temperatures come.:)

I don't plan on doing much in the house today because I will be at Chris' baseball tournament he is playing in. It started yesterday and ends Tuesday. That is if we continue to win. It is a double elimination, so we better not lose, huh? We were there all day yesterday as well and it was so hot!!!

I did throw a load in the washer since we have some time before we have to leave. I will just throw them in the dryer to dry.

Friday, Chris noticed our yard was full of water around the water meter. The pipe had busted. I told Rick just to turn it off and we would fix it Saturday because it was so late. So last night after all of Chris' games, we had to run to Lowe's and get some pipe, fittings, etc. to fix it. We finally have water again. Thank goodness MIL leaves next door and we could just run over there to use the restroom and take a shower. They went away to the coast for the weekend, but we were having to go over every day and feed their dog and check on things.

Well, that is all the buzz on our homestead. I hope you have a great week.

It's a beautiful sunny day. I love days like this; not to hot, not to cold.

Mom23boys, I hope it cools down soon for you. I don't like to extreme heat either.

Today will mostly be a day of relaxing with my family. Dd is volunteer first aid person at the pony races today so I will be driving her there. There's lots of leftovers in the fridge so I don't even have to cook. :D I'll probably do a load or two of laundry to keep Mt. St. Neverrest from overflowing.

That's it for the buzz on my little homestead.

Today is hot, hot, hot, just like in Texas :D Thank goodness for air conditioning.

This week starts a long week of vacation Bible school at our church. It's every night from 6:30 to 8:30. I have to allow time to pick up DD's friends, so I've been trying to plan my menus for the week.

I went to the store this a.m. to pick up potatoes. They had a 5 lb bag of russet potatoes for $.98! I bought 3 of them! I have potato plans for the upcoming week! :toothy:

I put some ribs in the crockpot for dinner, although I will have to grill some burgers for DD1 and DH, as they don't like ribs. I'm making deviled eggs, pasta salad and cornbread to go along with. YUMMY! :chef:

I just cleaned out the fridge of all science experiements. I plan on making some regular salad to have in the fridge for the week also.

I also cleaned up the porch and put a wicker bench out curbside. I'm hoping someone will whisk it away for me!

No bites on the van yet, I guess I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and put an ad in the paper. We really need that money! :dollar:

That's the buzz here in NJ today! Have a great day on your homestead!

Well its Tuesday and I missed yesterday. We had to make a trip into the city and I'm really tired this morning. Its a 6 hr. drive all total, along with running around in the city, with dr. appointments, music lessons, picking up things.

I'm beat, but have so much to get done today. I need to make umpteen phone calls, work at some books and then wash some new material I purchased yesterday.

I also need to get some clocks finished dh has made and are already sold so he can take them to work with him tomorrow.

The weeds have sprouted up in the flowerbeds again, so they need to be worked on. I love flowerbeds, but those weeds are something else. I need to get them dug out though before they get too big and I can't control them.

I realized after being in the city yesterday (700,000), how much I love country life, the quiet of it and the pace of country living. The way they drive in the city, or run around is enough to make anyone want to move to the country. The kids and I waited in the van while dh seen the specialist, and I watched people. Have you evere done that? It was interesting to see such a variety, but they were going at top speed!!!!! It was like watching racing cars. Ooooh country living is soooooo very different.

Thats the buzz on this homestead.

Tuesday already? I decided we better get the yard mowed today as the weatherman said it may rain. So I started it and Richard finished it for me. :D It was almost 15 minutes later that the rain started falling down. I am glad we got it finished in time.

Chris and Dakota are playing "army men" (plastic men) together. They are being really nice to each other which doesn't happen very often. I am just glad for the peace and quiet.

I had to cut my nieces hair today. It was really long, but not anymore. Her mom, my SIL, wanted it really short for the summer. It is really short compared to what it was. It looks really cute though.

I took Richard and Chris to the dentist yesterday for cleanings and the dentist said that they both needed braces. Richard on the bottom and Chris on the top and bottom. YIKES!! I can't believe what that will cost me. I told them I will wait until school gets started again so that things can calm down some. With Dakota's bill and vacation coming up, I can't afford it all right now.

Well, that's the buzz for today.

Tuesday already. The time is flying here, but it doesn't seem as though I am getting very much accomplished. I have so much to do, but it is also so very hot, that I don't want to do anything. at this second it is 99 out there!!

My best buddy sent me flowers seeds that I spread last night in the cooler evening but before the sun was all the way gone. It was a great gift, and I can't wait to see how well they come up! :)

I have laundy going in both the washer and dryer. I can't do anymore decluttering till after the garbage is picked up tomorrow. My cans are stuffed full!

I am also getting things set up in advance to go on vacation next month, getting all the things we will need to pack organised and cleaned, etc. Do you pack in advance?? I do, I probably pack way too in advance, about 3-4 days before the day we have to go, and if i need something from the suitcase i replace it as soon as we are done with the item. I can't pack the night before otherwise, id forget half the stuff i needed to take. But even before packing i make a list and begin gathering those things I will be needing to get ready to pack... maybe i am anal retentive about packing?? I have over a month until we are on the plane though!! :)

Well, before i go on rambling too much, that's the buzz here on my homestead!

Good morning on this very dull Wednesday morning. Looks like rain which we desperately need. The ground is so dry. We actually could use a good downpour for a couple of days. All the sloughs have dried up completely around here. It breaks my heart because of all the birds that no longer have homes. The sloughs won't come back either unless we get lots of snow this coming winter, which we haven't gotten in this area for a number of years.

I couldn't make the drs. appointments I wanted to make yesterday because they aren't booking yet for Nov. That has really put off our plans for a bit, because I try making all dental/dr appointments on the same day, seeing as we have to travel 3 hours one way. UGH!!

Today I need to get laundry done. It seems to be a never ending job around here. I got all the fat quarters that I purchased on Monday washed and pressed yesterday.

I finished digging the new flowerbed. Now I'll have dh use the tiller and till it up for me, using our compost pile. Once that is done, I'll leave it for a month or so and then work it up again. I'm wanting all the weeds out, along with the vine that tends to grow there. I got many of the roots out, but I want to make sure I got them all. This vine is very hard to get rid of, but I want to make sure that it doesn't grow next year in the flowers.

I dug up the strawberry plants I had. They weren't doing well where they were and not producing at all. Part of that area will be flowerbeds.

Were watching for an older electric stove so that we can put it in the porch, so that I can bake bread over the summer months. That way it doesn't heat up the kitchen. I'll also do my canning/preserving there. We don't have the room to build the summer kitchen we wanted to build. Our plans are to use up the wood in the shed we built and turn that into a summer kitchen.

I need to work at making out a monthly meal plan to go with the July pantry challenge. There are a couple of good loss leaders though that I will pick up on Friday.

If it doesn't rain today, I need to scrape the two bedroom windows upstairs and get those painted. I can do those from the inside (just take off the screens). They desperately need to be painted.

Thats the buzz, this Wednesday morning on my homestead.

Today is calling for chances of rain. Like you CJ, we need all the rain we can get. It hasn't rained as much as it should have this year. To say the least, the weather this year has been really weird.

I should be up and working already this morning, but I had to log on and catch up on the buzz of the Village. I need to finish painting Richard's room. I need to get in there and declutter it as well because we are pulling the carpet up and replacing it with black marble tile. His room will be in red and black. If it turns out, I will take a pic of it and show you all. I wish I would have taken a before pic, so you could have seen the difference, but we already started on it.

If things go well with the painting and decluttering, I will start pulling up the carpet today and then take a trip to Lowes to purchase the tiles we need.

After we finish Richard's room, we will start on Chris and Dakota's room. I don't know what I want to do in that room yet. Then I will redo the hall, livingroom and dining room last. We have finally finished our room and it looks so much better. I really like it. I guess I got into the redecorating mood. Redoing the walls and floors!! It is making a difference.

Well, that's the buzz here today. Hope you have a great Wednesday.

Good morning :morning: It's suppose to be a beautiful sunny day; so far it's nice. Yesterday the weather report said 0% chance for rain but it poured for about 2 hours. Hopefully the report is correct for today.

It's been pretty busy around here this week. My kids were asked, last minute, to counsel and do first aid for the kids camp THIS weekend. My oldest is leading the music. The people who were supposed to lead the music cancelled at almost the last minute. So anyways we have been running around doing paper work and getting prepared for them to leave Friday. All 3 of my kids will be gone for 9 days. I'm not still not sure if I will be jumping for joy :yippee: or crying because I miss them :weeping:

On top of all this my mom who is 70 years old fell on Sunday and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where they discovered she broke her leg. Because of many medical isssues she will be in the hospital for a least a week. I've spent a lot of time on the phone with my dad helping to calm him down and helping him make some decisions before she can out home.

I need to do laundry, fertilize my flowers and pinch the dead flowers, bake muffins, and pick up some first aid supplies. If dh's paycheque finally arrives I'll have a few more errands as well.

That's about it for the buzz :) Have a great day!

Oh Strawberry, I do hope your mom is better soon. Its so difficult when older people fall, takes a long time to heal. Lifting her up in prayer.

Today is Thursday and it looks like some of the homesteaders are busy. Where of where are all of you? Missing your wonderful posts.

The weatherman has promised hotter temperatures for the next few days which will be nice. We've had unseasonably cool weather the past week and high winds. We really need rain along with warm temperatures.

Not much doing on the homestead today. I'll be going to pick up the mail in a bit, paying the water bill and then coming home to just enjoy the day with the kids. Will pick out a couple of games and play a few, then will probably make it an afternoon of reading.

Tonight, I plan on getting some quilting done. Everything is all cut out so all I have to do is sew. I'm almost finished enough blocks for one baby quilt, so I'll get the top finished in the next few days, then quilt it. Doesn't take long to quilt a baby quilt.

I also have all the pictures ready for the cinnamon bun tutorial so I'll get those in the mail so they can be scanned and ready to get posted here.

Thats the buzz on my homestead for today.

Today I'm a busy bee hauling my yard sale stuff up from the basement. We're getting ready to have a HUGE yard sale on Saturday. Hoping to make some :dollar: and I have vowed to DH that none of it will come back in the house :D What's left will go to Goodwill and the books I can donate to the library.

I'm taking a break now, and getting ready to have some lunch.

This afternoon I need to clean up the upstairs, as the kids have made a mess

Tonight is another fun filled night of VBS!

Hope you're having a great day on your homestead!

Good afternoon everyone. I have already gotten a load of laundry in the dryer, and another in the washer, the dishes are done, and I am only waiting here for my bagle dough to do its second rising. Then i can simmer them and get them in the oven. MMMMM.

I should get out and weedwhack, but it is 93 degrees out there...maybe get dh to do it this weekend.

I am tapping my foot impatiently at the moment waiting for a package to get here...via the "Big Brown Truck" as ds calls it. I like that I can track the pkg with UPS's site, lol, but knowing that it is "out for delivery" makes me even more impatient, lol. I love getting mail, and ds is still at that age where it is almost like Christmas when a box arrives. It is an order I placed for papers stamps, and such. :D

Well, I suppose the dogh has risen, so i had better get going on the bagles. Hava a great day on the homestead everyone!!

Hi ladies!!:smball: Sounds like everyone is having a busy week too!!

Monday DH and I went to a Mennonite Garden Centre an hour and a half from here to pick up our strawberry plants (500) and raspberry canes (50). What a lovely family, we spent about two hours touring their garden centre and gardens. Delaney had fun picking out some flowers. We had a lovely drive home through Mennonite Country, we drove for maybe 10 miles and all the farms were Mennonite, it was great to see their HUGE gardens, wash on the line (it was Monday!!) and the whole family outside working away!

Tuesday was spent painting our old shed, it sure needed it! We painted over the white with white and did the trim in brown (Chocolate Kiss was the actual colour :D ) DH put a new steel roof and and it looks real nice now. I also planted some hostas that I bought at the garden centre along with some more flowers that we got. We started on the strawberry planting and got 2 rows in (100 plants per row) I was exhausted and fell right to sleep when my head hit the pillow.

Wednesday was spent driving over to my Mom and Dads (4 hour drive there and back), it was our old neighbours birthday and Delaney's bestest ;) friend. He was turning 7 and we just couldn't miss it!! Delaney went to the party and I visited with Mom and Dad.

Today it has been raining on and off here so I sneak in and check in here when I have a minute!! I have been trying to put in more strawberries. Went to town as well as DH needed a few things from Canadian tire, a hydraulic jack to raise the barn as we are putting on a new roof and an air hog (lovely name eh?) as one of the tractors tires is leaking air and it's back in the field so this lovely hog carries air for us and we go back and just pump up the tire!! Oh, I also painted a wooden wishing well that I bought from a lady in the village who is moving soon. It is so well built and heavy, it even has it's own steel roof!! I painted it white and left the roof dark green, it looks great...I just don't know where to put it yet.

Well, that's what I've been up to lately, hope you are all having a great day!!!

What a Thursday!! DH came home from work early and said he needed to go to the doctor. So we went to the ER cause we couldn't get in with the doctor today. His shoulder, neck, back and hand have all been hurting. They said it was a pinched nerve on C6 in his verterbae and gave him some med. to help him relax and hopefully heal.

After we left the dr. we headed to WM to get his prescription filled and while we waited I went to have a pedicure. I actually talked DH into having one while he waited. He did!! He said it was relaxing as I had said. I know it wasn't frugal, but it sure is worth it.

Now DH is sleeping and the boys are in their rooms playing. At least they aren't fighting.

I need to help Richard finish painting his walls, but I think I will wait until tomorrow unless I get a burst of energy somewhere.

Strawberry~I hope your mom is ok and gets better soon.

Well, that is the buzz on the homestead.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for my mom. It looks like she will be in the hospital for up two weeks. Her blood pressure is quite high, which is not normal for her, and they are treating her with meds. It looks like my dad will have to have someone come in and put bigger doors in because she will need to be in a wheelchair for awhile and the wheelchair might not fit through their doors.

It was another busy hot day. I did more laundry, aired out the sleeping bags for the kids, vacuumed, cleaned the bathroom, made 2 loaves of w/w bread, watered my container garden, weeded one flower bed and helped my dks with their preparations for camp.

That's it for the buzz here. :)

Today I hoped to go blueberry picking with the kids, but we had a soaking rain last night. It's up to my mom if she wants to go in the mud-lol.

Tomorrow is my big yard sale. I have such a pile of stuff on my porch, you can barely get in the front door. I will feel so free :bfly: to be rid of this junk! Please send your good yard sale vibes my way!

Tonight is the last night of VBS. It's been a long week, but we had 5 kids just in my class get saved the other night. It was just wonderful! I have the Jr. class, which is 10, 11, and 12 year olds.

DD wants to get props for a movie her and her friends are filming. I may take her and her friend Phil to do that later on.

Breakfast will be pancakes and sausage.
Lunch and dinner are up in the air right now! lol

Have a wonderful day on your homestead! :sun:

Its Friday - yay!!! Suppose to be hot here for the next few days. I woke up though to a very chilly house. Dh had opened the doors and windows before he left for work.

Good luck Danielle on your yard sale. Cool news on the kids at VBS!!!

Strawberry, continued prayers for your mom.

Today, I need to get laundry done once again. I'm taking the day off tomorrow and spending time with a friend in the city by myself, so need to get everything done today.

I gave the upstairs windows one coat of paint yesterday, and if the clouds leave, then I'll give them the second coat once I'm back from the post office. That'll be another job done for the summer!!

When I'm in the city, I need to purchase another gallon of paint so that I can finished dh's workshop. I'd like to get it done before the fall, but I keep forgetting to pick up the paint.

I weeded all the flowerbeds last night and transplanted some of the baby plants that were coming up from last year into my new flowerbed. It was getting so crowded in the one flowerbed from last years seeds. I need to go out and check to see how they made it overnight.

Didn't get any quilting done last night, hopefully tonight. We all sat in the living room, reading and just enjoying each others company.

Thats the buzz here on the homestead.

I'm so happy it's finally Friday! It's been one of those weeks.

I didn't get much done today besides run errands for the kids and help them pack. I did to a few loads of laundry and made some pudding but that's about it.

We will be leaving the house in about a hour to take the kids to camp which is about an hours drive. I'll help with some stuff in the camp kitchen while dh is unloading all the music equipment and then dh and I will drive home. I think I'm already missing the kids :( Nine day with no teenagers. What will I do with myself? LOL :toothy:

Have a great weekend! :)
