There are just a few minor chores to get done today.
DH goes back to work tomorrow, I am kind of glad. I love him but man he thinks he knows how to do everything, but decieds to just stand there and tell you how to do it and not help with the chore!
He did do good yesterday! We did some yard sales and I got heat sick. So he straightened up the kitchen and laundry room, and then swept and mopped the kitchen floor!
Today, I plna mostly to read, send out chapter 1 of the bible study,
and do minor cleaning.
When he goes to work tomorrow I will replant my new watermelon vines and the rest of the maters and peppers.

Busy week coming up for me, we are still doing state testing at work and I have more midterms at school scheduled for next week.

Dh got the garage very rat proofed, at least one very big spacious shelf. It measures about 2 feet dee, 2 feet high and 10- 12 feet long. He completely enclosed it with both wire mesh to keep animals out, but screen to keep insects out as well. He recycled the old fold up doors that used to close off the laundry room, how great, they were an exact fit! It looks great, now all the stuff in paper cartons like cereal and pastas, etc are safe from any harm. I had quite a stockpile built up right after I moved here in 2000, and I got a VERY BAD case of pantry moths and lost it all! Hundreds of dollars in the trash can, I was just sick. I see an occasional moth in the houe and am so afraid to lose what I have built again so this time we opted for the garage, but he spied two big rats coming out of the side of the door and found that they had gotten into the dog food. He put some poison out, they ate it up, and last night was the first night that we saw no evidence of any visitors, I guess we won that round. As soon as I get my new camera cord from the best sister a sister could have, I will post some pics. I am very proud of that stockpile and had so much fun arranging it last night

I bought some "papaya" colored paint from walmart yesterday. I am going to paint that paneling and do something daring. I want something that makes a statement, this definitely will!!! I will post the link here in a minute so you can visualize my ideas. I love bursting out with new ideas, I love traditional things too, but now that I am a homeowner, I love doing things that a landlord would kill you for! It is the hellion in me that wants to rebel!!!!

Well I hope everyone has a great week down on the homestead!

Here it is, I have decided to go "vibrant and funky"

Good morning everyone. Its been good to shut the computer down early for the past two days and just spend time with the family, reading.

Today will be a busy day here. I need to wash clothes, hopefully be able to hang them out to dry. Its suppose to rain for the next 3 days, but the sun is shining right now, so just maybe it won't.

I also need to bake bread and hamburger buns, so will start that once the kids are up.

I still have more moving to do in the m/bedroom. Most of my sewing stuff is now in my sewing room once again, but I have some odds and ends in the bedroom that need to be put away. I also need to order our supplies for the insulating today.

Thats about it down on the homestead.

I need to begin walking again, I didn't while he was home.
Today is wash sheets day. I think I will do the living room blankets as well!
Hope you all have a great day!:D

It is Monday;) We had really strong storms last night, the power went off-but I woke up in time to catch it so no one was late for work or school:D !!! I am going to try to get through some stuff that I have left packed up since we moved in,girls summer clothes etc....
DH got some free wood from work so he and my brother are building a small shed and a storage box for the garbage to keep the stray cats out. He says he will get more and build DDs a toy chest for their stuffed critters... They don't play with them much, but drag them out when our grandson comes over. He is going to make it look like a circus cage.
I hope everyone has a great day,and the storms pass us all by.

I am hoping by the end of the week to be able to get my carpets cleaned, they need it so badly. And of course I am plan on a good amount of time spent here in the Village while I am on vacation too.

Dh is varnishing our closest doors for our room. They were old and scratched.

I need to buy clothes this week, for myself and two of my boys....I actually have almost nothing to wear that is nice...I gained too much weight.:( *Sigh* I better get serious about losing it...mmm....I think I should hang around more in the *Live your Life* board...;)

It was a pretty busy weekend here. Besides the usual housework I spent a lot of time driving kids around, I gave dh and ds#2 hair cuts, went shopping and did some hamburger omac.

This morning we woke up to snow again  It's been snowing off and on since Friday. Today I had to sweep the snow off the car, it had snowed about 6 cm. It's almost noon and it's still snowing. When will the snow stop???????? The dks were joking about going outside and building a snowman and the sad thing is, is that there is enough snow that they could. :bigsnow:

I had to renew my driver's license today to the tune of $75.00  I made 2 dozen applesauce muffins and I have bread rising. There's probably a mountain of laundry from the weekend sitting downstairs waiting for me too. Other then that I will spend some time returning some phone calls and reading.

Maybe soon I will be able to get back to the yard work.

Have a great day everyone!

Well one wall is light orange, or should I say papaya. I thought I would try living with it for a couple of days. I LOVE IT!!! It is not a real bright orange(I mean papaya), but it is cheery and eye catching.

Carolyn, Im jealous of your house so clen inside and out. No time for anything domestic this week tho... I did alright in my film class final for the multiple choice part, but fell apart in the essay part!!! The art midterm was elementary school easy!! We did a self portrait today...what a joke, but fun none the less

I got my paper back on Frankenstein...120 points out of 150. Dont know for sure what grade that is, a B I guess. The next one is on Darwin's Descent of Man... I am gonna win this one Darwin!!!

Didn't get to make any bread last weekend, I am feeling very sad about that. It made the best toast for breakfast, and I have missed it for the past few mornings. My family loves it as well! That is a definite plan for this weekend.

We are still doing state testing at work, the kids have had it, it is very hard and contains lots of information that they have never been exposed to, for many kids it is just a series of guesses!!

Hope you are all safe from storms, tornadoes as well as anything else Mother Nature throws at us!!!

Kathy< Hope your enjoying your vacation!

Good morning everyone, I missed this thread yesterday. It was a crazy day for me. We had to take dh in to work for 8 a.m. so we were all up at 6. I took the kids out for breakfast as a special treat and they thought that was pretty cool. Michael was such a little trooper and never gave me any hassle at all at the restaurant.

Then we went and bought dd new shoes, picked up cat food and went to the health food store to stock up on grain, etc. After that, we picked up the meat order and came home.

We were home for about 2 hours and then had to go and pick up dh, went out for supper and then shopped for groceries. It was 15% off day at the grocery store I shop at, so I didn't want to miss that.

When we got home, it was raining and very windy, so I didn't even get to turn the computer on.

Today on the homestead, I need to store some of my groceries and put the rest away. I also need to continue decluttering downstairs - the whole upstairs is done.

I need to check the rain barrels and make sure the covers are on right.

Dh has to get things ready to cover up a place in the attic where the bats are getting in. He'll have to do that at night so that the bats are out. With a light outside while he is doing it, the bats won't come around. I don't want another bat in the house this summer, but they are good for eating mosquitoes. I'm going to look to see if we have a bat house pattern that he can make.

I also need to order the insulation, 2x2's and gyproc for our m/bedroom.

Other than that, I'm going to enjoy the sun outside.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day "down on the homestead".

Good morning! Today the sun is actually shining, no more snow. :sun: :hurray:

This morning after getting the dks started on their schoolwork I cleaned the bathroom, decluttered the dresser in our room, dusted the living room and I have quiche muffins in the oven. I will make some applesauce muffins in a few minutes too.

This afternoon some friends are coming over for a visit so I won't get anything else accomplished today :toothy: After supper I need to take ds#2 and while I wait to pick him up I will go over to a friend's house who just had surgery on both her wrists. I'm bringing her two frozen dinners, 2 loaves of homemade bread, and a big batch of her favourite cookies. While I'm there I'll see if there's some housework I can do for her.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning everyone. Well were now into Thursday and the weather isn't very promising. Last night we had quite the wind, with thunder and lightening along with rain. Its suppose to rain for the next 3 days.

So all the work I do will have to be in the house. My knee went out last night walking, so it will depend on how much walking I can do in what I get done.

I need to do some ironing for sure today, along with some cutting of quilting material.

Dd needs a bit of help in finishing her room. She wanted to change the furniture around (Carolyn, she is worse that you, Calico or myself) and she needs help in lifting her dresser yet. Yesterday we all helped her move her bed, even Michael and then I promptly sat the bed down on Michael's foot. He kept saying "ouch" and I couldn't figure out why. Poor little guy, but he was just so proud helping move the bed.

We brought up the old antique cupboard from downstairs and I may start working on that this afternoon.

Hope everyone is having a nice day "down on the homestead".

As the weather is getting better the ground is beginning to get workable, so I have been trying to gather things together to begin my planitngs.
I am also working on compiling a Family tree. I have info from my brother and my great grandmother on my mothers side. I hope to do some rubbings of tombstones this summer while on vacation to add to my information. Or to photograph them to save some of the information found on the stones.I can with just the information i have gotten from these two sourses, trace my family tree back (counting myself) four generations, with very little blank spaces. I am hoping to expand to perhaps 8 generations by the end of the year. A goal, but i am not worried if i don't quite get there.
I have been posting auctions, and hope that they work out. And if not at least i will know HOW to post an auction.
I am enjoying the sounds and smells of spring here. I can hear birds during hte day. It is so great to hear again after a long winter. Kids are beginning to play outside again down at the parks. And people are beginning to cook outdoors once more.
We have had visits from friends from TX, it has been a long time since we saw them last. Great to see them again.
I have decluttered the dining room almost completely and moved a bookcase to my bedroom. Not for books, but to store linens on as we do not have a linen closet. And i couldn't think of anywhere else in the house to put it, it is in our bedroom out of the way. The next target for decluttering is the living room. (evil laugh here) got lots i can throw out in there!
Any how that's what's going on from here. How goes things there on your Homestead?

Okay, my house is full of clutter, but one wall is a beautiful shade of papaya, and I will finish at least that coat this weekend.

I drew a picture of Picasso...it was a scale drawing, but it was SO fun, I cant wait to paint it next week!!!

Gonna bake a double batch of bread, but I have to do it in 2 days because I dont have enough loaf pans, and I like it in loaves so I can taost it, I love it with a little boysenberry jam and a cup of joe for breakfast

My very most wondermous sister in the whole world replaced the cord for my digital camera as a gift for my birthday, I am so greatful to have it, that is the problem with sharing things with the kids, they do not value them!!! Now I will be able to post some pictures of my beautiful wall and my bread too (cant you tell Im proud of my accomplishments?)

Work is getting better everyday and things at school are not too bad either, keeping my head above water!!!

Well its Friday today, dull and miserable outside. We are now going into our 3rd day of rain. Although the farmers really needed it, I need the sun.

My knee isn't any better, so I'll be taking it easy once again on the homestead. Going up and down the stairs is tortorous and walking is really bad.

I did manage to get 2 loads of clothes washed yesterday. I need to fold those today and then wash a load of dark clothes and hang them on the clothesrack to dry.

I'm almost finished the m/bedroom. The long weekend, which is next weekend, dh and I will begin tearing off the plaster, lathes and begin adding 2 inch studs to make the walls 6 inches. Once that is done, will then insulate and put up the gyproc. Hopefully with 3 days of steady work, will be able to get most of it finished.

Tomorrow is our town wide yard sale, so hopefully I can get to that, if it doesn't rain and my knee is better.

Have a wonderful day on your homesteads.

It's 9:30 in the morning here and 80 degrees already, but they are saying no storms today,so hopefully DH can get the grass cut this evening! It's been over a week since we could get to it,
As for today- will try to get caught up on laundry, and vacuuming the house...all the things I've put off this week:eek:
Everyone have a good day:D

Wow, most of our homesteaders must be having a day off!! :)

Well today was our town wide yard sale and what a bust. I was able to purchase a blender so that I can make soy drinks, but other than that I didn't get a thing. That is 2 town wide yard sales where I didn't find anything I needed.

We then went into the city and did a bit of shopping. I needed to pick up some ant killer. The ants are just wicked this year - they are everywhere, so I had to buy the killer instead of making my own. I also picked up a badminton set for the kids and some garbage bags. I had $16.00 in Canadian Tire money, so I saved quite a bit.

The weather isn't very nice here, in fact very cold. It was only +2 this morning when I woke up. Thats 34 F., pretty cold for this time of the year.

Tonight, were just having a light supper and then I plan on taking it easy, resting my knee and doing some reading.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day on their homesteads.
