OMG I am sooo hot my thermostat does not read any higher and it reads to about 95F!!!! I don't have AC, it is almost midnight and still about 103F outside with the humidity! I have six fans going, water all over the place for the pets. DD just feel asleep about 40mins ago. I go in and spritz her every so often, as I am doing to my self. Thank goodness for the apartments pool. We were in and out of that most of the day. I am to hot to sleep even with my sleeping meds. I have never felt heat and humidity like this. I hope it passes soon or I am just going to melt away to nothing.
I hope everyone is doing okay with the heat!

Oh my! That sounds AWFUL!! Sounds like you're taking good precautions. Have you tried putting an ice pack (wrapping in something thin like a t-shirt) at the foot of your bed? This helped last time I visited family in Oklahoma and just couldn't handle the heat (I'm from Alaska). It cooled me down enough I could rest comfortably...

I, too, live in Ontario and find the heat WAY too hot! I can't imagine not having a/c...I feel bad for you. You must all be sleeping in the nude or underwear only.

I would check with any county or township office to see if anyone is giving away free ac's. Not sure what type of office in Canada. I saw a notice in the paper that they were giving away free ac's to people who needed them. Just a thought.

Also, you had stated that you have someone working with your daughter and her disability. I would mention to them how hot it is and the need for ac. Guess what I am saying is to ask and tell everyone that you need an ac. You never know who might have one or is upgrading that you can use. I would even state that you need one when you go to the doctors office. Many medications require that you have ac, plus you need your sleep.

Hope you get relief and please stay safe. Don't be afraid to fill up the bathtub to get some relief. I used to do this and would jump in whenever I felt hot.

That is brutally hot!!! I feel so bad for you and dd!

I'd be very thankful for the pool too. I'd be hopping in that right before bed to help keep cool.

I'm in AB, we're in a monsoon lately, so much for our 10 year drought. Good :) But mosquito infested instead.. ugh..

Any, rabbit trail done.

Last year, after having high bills due to window A/C, here is what we did. When it's coolest we open the windows. So in the morning, and we put fans in front, to blow IN the cool air. When it gets hot, we turn the fans around and blow it OUT. Not all windows have fans obviously, but we keep the north windows open as they are shaded, and it forms a great cross breeze. Even if it's not truly, cooling, the breeze cools the flesh. Sleep with top sheet only, and mist the top sheet, it will stay cooler longer.

Hope the heat wave breaks soon!

I know....I called my Mom (age 75) yesterday to see how she was faring. She was fine, had both of her window a/cs going, but she had men working on her patio roof in 102F heat! I said, do they have fluids to drink? She said, yeah, they brought drink coolers and stuff. Wow, very hot for outdoor work. :bolt:

A tip I learned from someone who used to live in India, and it's worked for me at need when the A/C was out. Spray the top sheet damp and turn the fan on it. It can feel almost cold under it. If the humidity is really high it might not be quite as effective - I don't know - but it really helps to fall asleep. When you wake up, pick up the spray bottle from the bedside table, repeat.

The neighbor kids without ac have been coming to our house to play in the ac. Today we went to the drive in to use the kids freeice cream cone when buddy tried to give him his free coupon they told him to keep it to use later that was so sweet and cooled them off errand running is hard in extreme heat warning temps. This feels like 110 weather is yucky
