Last summer we saw more than one 400$ plus electric bill and since then I've been trying desperately to keep that from happening again. This has been our first month of summer like heat, and here are our results:
May 2007 - average 91 kwh per day, bill 335$
May 2008 - average 69 kwh per day, bill 221$
OMGoodness! The major change has been raising the temp on the AC from 75 to 78 and I air/line dried all but 2 loads of laundry during this billing cycle. As soon as I saw the bill I got so excited that I celebrated by raising the thermostat to 79. With the economy such as it is, it's nice to be in control of at least this.
