My SO is wanting to buy things for the apartment -- rugs, plants, whatever.

I, on the other hand, have ZERO desire to spend money on sprucing up the place. It's also not in my budget. We do have 2 sofas, an HDTV, and basic liv/bedroom furniture.

I also know we'll more than likely be moving next April -- so I see any "stuff" we buy now as either stuff we'll need to move, or stuff that may not match our next place.

Sigh. The one plant he just bought -- already has leaves that are turning brown. I'm notorious for killing plants (though I've stayed away from this one.)

It's like we're in role reversal.... I'm fine with the way things are, and he wants to spend money decorating.

Anybody have any frugal ideas? or thoughts?

I think it is important to make your house a "home". Check out Dollar General, garage sales, thrift stores, etc. Even a few scented candles and a couple of framed posters or art prints will make a big difference. I prefer silk plants myself. I am also a "plant killer".

I think I am the 'original plant killer' myself. LOL Have a talk with you SO, tell him what you are thinking. Maybe there is a middle ground you can meet on. Good luck to you. :hugz:

Yeah. I didn't think it was possible to kill a cactus... but I managed to disprove that theory.:toothy:

I think you should spruce the place up with some yard sale finds. And fake plants. YOu wont spend much so if you cant use it in the new place it wont be a big loss. When we moved I got rid of most of my thing in a total of 3 yard sales. I am new slowly bringing in new things that I find at yard sale that go perfectly with my new home. IT is takeing a very long time but the results will be worth it and it gives me something new to look at often.

maybe just some "art" to hang on the wall, you can make it your self if you want, abstract lines or color copies of stuff you like or get some cheap frames and hang some pics or go to goodwill and get some. that stuff is flat and and easy to pack or you can just toss it in the recycle bin when it time to move. there is some sticky putty stuff that 3m makes that doesnt require holes or rip the paint off the walls, i used it in alot in college.

If you go to allposters.com you can buy any kind of "art" you can imagine, even the "great masters". Don't buy it in their frames, though $$$$. I have some lovely wall candle sconces I picked up at the DAV for 49¢ each, and they have Dollar store candles in them. I get compliments on them all the time.
