I tried the green bags for bananas, and I think they extended the life, BUT, hubby accidently left the bag open and they immediately tuned black and mushy. I'll have to try separating them. I understand hanging also disperses the gases that cause them to ripen quickly.
Once they get to the right stage you can put them in the refrigerator
for up to two weeks. The outside will turn black, but the
fruit is still quite edible.
Once they are overripe throw them in the freezer - right in their skins. They turn brown but thawed are soft and sweet - just right for banana bread or muffins. If you, like me, only eat a 1/2 banana on your cereal wrap the second half in tin foil and freeze for the same use (baking)
