Wow, zero for zero today. The new foster horses arrived, and I got caught up in getting them set up, as well as dealing with this new baby chick I got yesterday. I will have some catching up to do tomorrow!!

madhen, don't feel bad ... I got little done today too. Oh well, there's always tomorrow, right? : )

Besides, maybe your list didn't get done but it sounds like you were plenty busy anyways.

Aaah, you foster horses ... that is SO COOL!!! I love horses so much [would love to have one but that isn't possible with where I live.]

What I've been focusing on lately is to keep watch on my one facebook group that was set up a few weeks ago for a horse from the county I live in, his name is Northstar and he was intentionally set on fire by someone [they don't know who] and he was burned over most of his body, the poor baby. He has 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th degree burns [I didn't even know that there was such a thing as 4th degree burns!]

When he was able to be moved, he was transported from here [PA] to Ohio where they have a Equine Emergency and Critical Care facility at the Ohio State University and he's to be in ICU at the very least for a month and possibly up to several months. The assistant professor there said that he has never seen a horse as severely burned as Northstar is.

Someone had purposely poured accelerant on him and intentionally set him on fire. Is that sick or what?? : (

If you'd like to read the article, it's at: Northstar, Burned Horse, Receiving Care At Ohio State's Equine Center

Sorry for gabbing so much but I guess he's just on my mind a lot tonight for some reason.

Enjoy your new babies [how many horses did you get today and do you have any of your own?]

Thanks, Scarlett!

How terrible!! I am sort of doing the same thing with a dog named John who they didn't expect to live, found covered in his own feces and starved to the point that they thought he was dead until he opened his eyes, but who has been at the vet for about a week now and is actually standing up and eating on his own now. Little black lab mix, and I really didn't think he would make it, so have been happy to see him progressing so well. :)

No, no horses of my own. I grew up around them, but don't really ride, and they are pretty expensive to keep just as big pets, so I have never made that particular leap. :) Love them, though. I have two right now, and it took them all of about half an hour to become totally sweet and to follow me around for treats.
