So far this month I picked up the violet food and potting soil that I had arranged to last weekend (last month) and a silly little toy from the free rack at a thrift shop-- I brought it home, it made us all giggle, and now I will re-donate it with the next batch of stuff to go out...

VICTORY-- I am NOT putting my name in for a bunch of aerogarden stuff that just flashed over my facebook group! Someone else who is already up and growing wants it, so I did not put my name in the hat for that. Yay for NOT adding clutter to my house just because I could.

Let's see... I got a big box of candles-- some new, some partially burned-- for DD17... She likes them fine, but I may try to convince her to melt some of them down and pour new ones.

There was a mason jar candle in the box along with a second, un-used mason jar, so I confiscated that and added it to my jar stash... for actual, you know, CANNING!!!

I also got a cool box that was probably a make-up case originally, but it reminds me of one of those Kaboodles things from the 80's/90's... I am going to use that as my new sewing box, as my old one is legitimately old... like antique and falling apart beyond repair... it's a little sad because it was originally a cosmetic case from my grandmother's ancient hard-sided luggage... but at this point it is literally disintegrating and held together with duct tape...

I also got three little Christmas tins that I will fill with goodies add to my Christmas snack-baskets for my family... Ideally there should be 4 baskets that are somewhere between a Harrod's Christmas hamper and a Harry and David's tower-of-treats, customized to each household, and I am trying to gather up lots of little boxes and baskets and treat bags now, while they are still out-of-season and people are just giving them away...

SD- A free microwave sounds great! Those are expensive....When ours bit the dust, it was a weird size and the only place that had it was Amazon. So, I got one and it has a 30 day guarantee. On the 30th day, it completely stopped working. One call to Amazon got me a replacement, however, it won't heat anything over 5 minutes.....So, i pulse my food if it's more than a 5 minute cooking cycle.

I used CC rewards for a $50 Amazon card, $50 birthday GC (has a variety of stores on it) and a $25 Amazon card.

Half a box of White Zinfandel wine... a neighbor had it left over from a party and it happened to be the kind my mother drinks, so I took it over to her. Mom later complained that "they opened it wrong."

Zhoen, good luck getting candle wax out of a jar. Buying new jars on sale is generally a decent deal. Thrift store quart jars here usually go for .99 each, $12/dz, plus then you have to buy lids and rings. New is cheaper. Watch Ace Hardware ads.

Ru, yes, we were more than happy to keep our $200+ in our pockets. We ended up buying the same model we had except stainless instead of black. We loved the old one, nothing else was comparable, and we think the old one failed due to an hours-long power brownout a couple weeks ago. Hope the new one has a good long life.

We got a free clay memento with our kitty's pawprint from our vet, who helped us say goodbye Monday. 😢💔

SD- only one of the jars had a candle in it, the other was still new. Most of my jars were bought new... although I did get one quart jar for $.50 a few weeks ago... that one was just the jar, but I have zillions of old rings and the lids have to be replaced each time anyway.

The past few years my jars have a dirty habit of disappearing into the teenagers rooms and bathroom... LOTS of bath scrubs... Luckily we discovered the reusable plastic screw-on lids from Walmart (plus certain sizes of peanut butter jars also fit as reusable lids.

Today I got a smallish (maybe 2ftx 3ft?) window, two old glass-inset doors, and a sheet of glass from the reclamation place I drive by sometimes in Baltimore. I dream/hope/plan to assemble a glassy she-shed in the back corner of the yard in the next year or so ... Something like this , only not so tall
58634

It's an ambitious dream, but all the good ones are...

Also $2.14... I had time to kill while I was waiting for a minor car repair, so I bopped over to the casino next door and that was my take-home. I'm rich!!! ;P

That would get hot easily. It would make a beautiful greenhouse.

Lids from Parmesan cheese also fit regular mason jars. Ball also makes flip top shaker lids. Kinda spendy, but nice to have a few around. I use dozens of regular canning jars for non-canning food storage, mostly the blue glass with zinc lids, my favorites. I got rid of all my regular qts yrs ago and kept the wide mouths for canning. I don't can much anymore, but still make pickles in them or half gallon olive jars. Hard to grow a garden up here, and we don't need massive amounts of food anymore. I like canning, though.

I got a free pair of men's undies- new, of course. And not for me but they came free with an order from Hanes clothing company. No choice in color but they will go to DS2 for Christmas.

Maggie-DH paid taxes and got a refund as well! The letter said it was due to CoVid and "hardship"..... I read about the govt doing this but didn't think much of it. COOL

Zhoen- it's always good to dream and plan..Nice outdoor building and stained glass would be beautiful.

I got a surprise tax rebate from the state today. I guess everyone else (e.g. people with TVs and smartphones) knew. I was surprised. It was over 350$. So, that was nice. When I saw the envelope from the state I thought "crap...must have underpaid!"
Ok, that beats my $2 from the casino. Maggie wins! :)

Today I got another basket from the free pile at "the goat store" as well as 4 artificial mushrooms (like for a flower arrangement.) DD14's current style is something called "goblincore aesthetic" which is really just a woodsy shabby chic with mushrooms and frogs... She is planning to repaint them before adding them into her room. No plans for the basket yet except maybe DD17 will use it for her randomness instead of constantly stealing my Christmas baskets...
