Free toe kicks for our new kitchen. I finally noticed the paneling we're removing from our new bathroom is a good match to the knotty hickory cabinets we'll use in our kitchen. All we have to do is cut four 4" strips of paneling and we won't have to spend $160 and tax on 4 strips of the readymade toe kicks. Works for me.

We actually got 7 gallons of free paint matching the exterior of our house on December 20, but just started using it yesterday. I'm prepainting siding to use to patch in the holes that will be created as we remove old windows and a door at the new house. The free paint is coming in very handy and saving us money.

We are reusing some of the wall lights from the sanctuary as living room lights and overhead lights in the sewing room. We will still have 16'-24' of them left and will probably be putting those in the basement shop. One of our electricians installed the lights about 4 yrs ago and said they were very expensive, and they are modern LEDs in like-new condition and only lightly used. They give a nice light and will be very welcome in the shop where we need good lighting. Reusing them in the 3 different locations will save a lot. These are the lights in their previous configuration. They were on both sides of the entire sanctuary.

I got a killer bracelet as a group early bday gift while on vacation in Santa Fe. Turned out it was made by the uncle of the maker of the bracelet already on my other wrist....so he offered me 20% off..."family rate".
The copper and silver is the new one. The silver with stones is the one from just barely pre-covid santa fe trip. Style wise the uncle and nephew are very different.

My client is still "cleaning out" and downsizing before she moves in a couple of months. I was gifted a bag of high end clothing, a few silver pieces, and unboxed Slatkin candles to list on ebay. Also received a bag of pear salad mix, cookies, tennis shoes and my son gifted me with a trip to Home Depot for gardening supplies when he paid for my order at checkout. Such a sweet kid.

I guess technically not free, but it all feels free. I figured out curtains or drapes for 15 windows using either stash fabrics or reusing curtains we already have. I think I will also have fabric for the ones I haven't planned for yet, too. Huge savings! Not having to pay for all that fabric will help a lot to pay for the approximately 20 blinds we will also need and can't get free or cheap.

Doing the happy dance about that today. 🙂🙂🙂

Mom gave us a tube of Pillsbury Grands biscuits and about six packets of assorted single serving salad dressings. She also gave us a cup of HM kale soup to try, to see if we like it. She learned not to surprise us with weird food after the Banana Meatloaf Incident of 1998, which was memorable for all the wrong reasons. 🤣🤣🤣

Three free paint sticks to go with the 7¼ gallons of paint we bought at Ace Hardware for the house today.

Almost free: The $42 gallon of paint that had a pinhole leak after it came off the mixer. They sold it to us for a mere $5. 🙂

20$ bill found on the side of the road! In Cherokee NC. I was there for a work conference and walked to the grocery store for some nuts and fruit in case the catering was all dairy based and hence, not in my wheel house. I saw something flapping in the grass just over the "don't cross me" metal barrier on the side of the road (no sidewalk) and jumped it. Worth the jump!
