We got a free $20 WM gift card from some friends for Christmas (Christmas gifts count, right!??!)
I've also had free dinners thanks to two holiday parties/socials I've attended.
Free lunch yesterday at our work Christmas party.
Some great candy from a "white elephant" gift exchange plus a Christmas tin that I can use for my mom's Christmas present.
I won a $75 gift certificate to Melting Pot from my work today.
There was an "expo" at my work today and they gave us three free pens, several chocolates, coffee, lip balm (I got two, actually).
Also, my work gave out free blankets with our logo on them yesterday. Today, they gave out scarves with our logo on them. Good thing, too, because we got a lot of snow (for the area, anyway) and the cold air was killing my lungs. On the way to work, I thought "I might have to buy myself a scarf when I get off of work today".
I "bought" two free bags of frozen veggies at Meijer. Sale price 79 cents, coupon for 50 cents, double coupon value worked.
I was also given a free Vanilla Bean Noel lotion. It's not from someone I normally get a Christmas present from so I don't count that as Christmas gift. It was unexpected freebie because she had more bottles than needed for gifts - I was at the right place at right time.
2 tropical plants (giving them away at work)
Sliver desk lamp (giving it away at work)
Large coffee (someone bought it for me)
2 knit hats (Christmas party favor)
Office Windows for the computer (Christmas party prize)
Apple computer converter to hook up TV(Christmas party prize)
Cookies and Treats (from work)
4 Tazo tea bags
$50 Swiss Chalet GC (Airmiles)
$25 Kernels GC (Airmiles)
4 new release Blockbuster coupons (Airmiles)
$25 Chapters GC (Airmiles)
Earned 760 Airmiles (using promotional coupons)
$20 Wal-Mart GC (Spend $50 Dec promo).
I love this thread - it always makes me feel more grateful and frugal when I think of all the free things I get!
This month I have gotten:
2 Right Guard Deoderants
4 Arm & Hammer Cleaners
5 Listerine Mouthwashes
2 Crest ProHealth Toothpastes
1 box chocolate truffles
Spiral Ham (from work)
$15 off coupon for a turkey
- a 15 pound turkey, won at a local store
- 4 boxes of kleenex
- 1 box of baby wipes
- pkg of 12 depends (for my FIL - it's great because they are expensive)
- 2 trays of Christmas baked goodies (from DH aunt )
I have to get on these free sites and start sending for things! You guys are doing great!
Well, I may not technically "get it" for free during the month of Dec, but the agreement's been struck, and it's a GREAT one. An old friend of mine from 15 years ago is back in town after a few years in Vegas. He does home remodeling/construction. Business is slow, so he has some time on his hands. He also has four (well, as of today, three) cats.
Some of you may know I am a veterinarian with a cat practice. I also have a lot of deferred maintenance/repair issues at the clinic that I have been footdragging on due to cash outlay issues (lol). Specifically, one entire wall with exterior exposure TOTALLY LACKS INSULATION.
My friend came over this AM and I put his poor cat with cancer to sleep. Then he opened up the wall to evaluate (it gets hot to the touch in summer and like ice in winter, so that was our clue that there was a problem). He saw that there was NO insulation in the space (in Los Angeles some folks think they can actually get away with this when building/remodeling, lol) and that entire BATTS of fiberglass insulation can and should be installed.
For over a decade I have lived with this. I am a little slow to act where hammers and nails are involved. But now he is proposing ripping out sheetrock and putting in insulation and tarmopping to seal out moisture, and between the waiting room and hallway and one exam room it's about 20-25 ft of wall we are talking about. And he wants to do it for COST. And he wants to trade for my services.
So this MAJOR project which will save me MAJOR money in heating/AC expenses is going to cost me NOT ONE CENT out of pocket.
Holy moley!!!!!! Merry Christmas to me, I guess.
And my friend wants me to make a list of any other stuff I need done (like electrical, cabinetry, plumbing, etc) and he will barter for that, too. I have quite a list of miscellaneous annoying little projects that I can now get all taken care of. I may be vetting his cats for years to come for free but that is just fine with me, lol.
Today was fun snack freebie day! I got in the mail

Orville Redenbacher's Microwave popcorn sample and coupon.
Kashi Blackberry cereal bar (with 4 $2.00 coupons inside)
A Tide Laundry sample load
Two free 8x10 pictures from Walgreens and Snapfish deal that was last weekend.
