Martha, I use my beloved commemorative 200th anniversary Louis & Clark #12D Lodge camp oven for a wok. It's the only way I can (barely) justify keeping it! I'm happy you got your mom's, and all freshly seasoned, too! What a great gift. I've been tempted by CI woks from time to time, but then I'd have to get rid of the L&C with the fancy shmancy limited edition lid, so nuh-uh.

I got a bread machine cookbook from my mom. I'm excited about it because it has great info on using my Pullman bread pan, which has mystified me for a long time. Now it all seems so simple, and it has some tips for converting regular recipes, too. It also has cake recipes for the bread machine. Can't wait to try some of this stuff out.

Oh, yeah, we salvaged 4 cat litter jugs from the recycle trailer, too. Don't have a use right now, but we will need them sooner or later.

I love direct recycling, where stuff not only doesn't go into a landfill, but doesn't require any reprocessing to be put to use again.

I keep forgetting to mention this little free tidbit. Husby buys Folger's decaf instant coffee. It comes with a fliptop lid. Those lids fit wide mouth canning jars. I was so excited to figure that out! They're coming in handy for some applications, so I hope he keeps buying that coffee till I acquire a nice small stash of them.

I'm sure you all probably also know the shaker tops from some Parmesan cheese containers will fit regular canning jars, but just in case... 🙂

SD-- I envy your recycle trailer SO much!!! Here, once it hits the dump, it is county property, with big "no scavenging" signs everywhere.

Lately, I have gotten:
  • An ungodly quantity of McD's french fries with the app-- something that DD18 is always asking me for, and honestly, I'm happy just to see her eat ANYTHING, even if it's junk... at least it's FREE junk...
  • about 8 lightbulbs
  • a small quantity of used wooden trellising that I am hoping to use to start closing in under the deck

The jugs were in a roll-off box. We have about 5 of them sitting all alone on a city property, where we recycle our paper, glass, and plastic. We always have an RV awning wand in the back of the truck to use for pulling stuff from the front of the box to the tailgate so we don't have to climb in, and the wand works great for snagging stuff from the roll-off trailers too. There's no supervision at that site although I think there might be a camera to keep people from dumping trash or vandalizing, but they don't care if people salvage. I suppose they'd put a stop to it if people climbed inside, but there's not much chance of that anyway. I'm just happy to get the jugs. They weigh nothing but make strong containers for organizing things. I have a couple entire storage systems based on the jugs. Free organizers, can't beat that!

I can see why big city landfills couldn't allow salvaging.
