Maggie- awesome score on the salmon!!!

Today I ended up with a big box of 4th-hand vegetables... It goes like this... my sister's neighbor got a ton of stuff from the food bank. She gave two big boxes to my sister. Sis put away as much as she can use, then called me to handle the rest. I ran it by my mother's place and got her to take some and I ended up with the rest. (Mom would have passed it on to HER neighbors, but screw them... 🤣)

So after getting mom to take some tomatoes, a whole bag of apples, a zucchini, some oranges, some onions, and a red pepper, I still ended up with:

  • About 20 lbs of potatoes
  • A whole cabbage
  • 1 green pepper (there were 2, but one was squishy)
  • about 2 lbs of onions
  • a couple of tomatoes (close to ickiness, will have to use quickly)
  • 3 more zucchinis
  • 2 boxes of generic mac-n-cheese

I see minestrone in my immediate future...

We hauled out a load of recycle stuff out today. While we were there, I poked through the metal pile like always and found 2 of those bright colored tomato cages, like new, one purple and one yellow. We wanted to buy 2 more at Ace Hardware earlier this summer, but they didn't have any more, so I'm happy about that find. I also picked up 6 smaller plain ones, like new. They're the lightweight ones but good enough for our use. Also found a nice wire freezer drawer. I'm always using freezer and fridge drawers for various reasons around here. The savings on the free tomato cages, which we needed, paid for the $6 charge to recycle the giant old TV, and most of the gas to haul the whole load out. Win!

Tomato cages were a good find, those are so expensive for how little they're made out of.

I got another free body wash for DH today.

Today my local little Navy thrift had a bag of Iris rhizomes out in their free section. SCORE!!! (Irises are my favorite!!!) The bag says they are reblooming white. They are small little offshoots, so they won't bloom any time soon, but that's ok. Now, where to put them?...

$20 check from unclaimed property division of my state. No idea where it came from.
