It's been a few years since this question was asked so what the heck.

On another forum I'm on the question was asked, "what do you collect?"

I guess I'm the odd guy, I don't collect a darn thing!

LOL..dust hoarder.

I've got a lot but I haven't added to them in a very long time. I have a collection of milk glass, cardinals, doves, different red glass pieces (I love red and white arranged together in vignettes), hen on the nests, dishes...I love plates and bowls, roosters (don't have near what I use to of those), stoneware and yellow ware (I intend to add to these). I seem to have a lot of candleholders. I have a whole lot of pictures too.

We are getting ready to build a new home...its in the works right now and we are hoping to break ground in the next 2 or 3 weeks....so I have been cleaning and decluttering. I'm going to put a lot of things in a moving sale and only keep the nicer pieces. I don't want to have to move everything.

I don't actively *try* to collect anything, but judging by the number of books in my bookcase, I collect cookbooks and gardening books.

My husband would say I collect seed packets (but one can't *really* have too many seeds, can one???) :)

Beautiful Polish stoneware - and YES, we do eat off of it (on state occasions)

And crazy relatives - not on purpose :)

As an adult, I've collected Fiestaware pieces since we are married. I use them all. None are just for show.

As a child, my grandmother collected porcelain dolls. Like the Franklin Mint type stuff. I have them in the boxes. I have no interest in displaying them, but I am not sure what to do with them.

This sure sounds like me. I just got rid of some old seeds.

Yeah... it isn't fun keeping the dust off of them!

I used to collect gargoyles and probably would continue to do so IF I felt it was a priority. lol

Yeah, well, be glad they're coated in creosote to keep the smell down.

hmm, so collecting isn't necessary something that Frugal folks do. Interesting.....

I collect the following:

Jadite
Crock pots - only green ones
cook books - really prefer the pre-1800's
coins - pretty much anything American
kitchen gadgets - anything
bundt pans
cast iron
Class rings

Entirely too much. Depression glass, watercolor prints of places we've traveled to, cat figurines, glass animals, dolls (from places I've traveled to), doll house minis, silver charms (from places I've been), day lilies, postcards from places we've been, squashed pennies, coffee mugs (from places I've been).... I'm sensing a trend here....

Much of it is in storage. Most of it I don't actively collect, I may add 1-2 pieces a year, usually during a vacation.

Maybe cook books. I have way too many books of every kind, but my cookbooks are really the only thing that survive my purging on a regular basis.

You know how you hear a quote one time and it just kind of sticks with you for no particular reason? I remember this one and I'm not even sure where I heard it before.

"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."

My mom isn't quite a hoarder (yet) but she has a lot of stuff that I see no use for. My great grandmother was a hoarder. The idea scares me so I'm constantly looking to get rid of stuff. Collecting really goes against my nature I guess.

I don't really collect anything. Since we have always traveled so much, we buy an ornament to each place we go. That way at Christmas it brings back the memories of the vacations and we hope that the girls will remember since we talk about the trips while decorating the tree.
