was there maybe a big baseball game ( when does world series start ) or tennis match etc on they seem to pre-empt shows on their channel and also cause re-runs on the other channels.

googled it = apparently due to budget cuts each show is making ~ 20 less episodes a year and re-running specials or salutes as they are calling them

looks like everyone cutting back lol

Apparently everyone is cutting back.

Don't the stars get paid per episode instead of a straight salary?

i dont know with soaps i know with sitcoms and dramas that are prime time its per episode .
maybe they cut back episodes instead of raises /- they all take the same vacation time each year - the stars - crew etc and just shut the studio down for a month ?
they would save on the behind the scenes crew the electricity - the food they usually have out etc etc

I watch Young & the Restless on cbs and when I do hubby makes fun of me. He puts on this little old lady voice and says: "After my stories, I'm gonna put on my hurky jerky old lady shoes and go down to the Hall and play bingo."
I hear this every day I watch...goof ball.
