Just for fun, I thought we could share what's on our kid's back to school lists.

I'm curious to see what the differences may be in different areas.

Here's mine:

3rd grade supply list:

1- bible
1 - children's dictionary
1 - pencil box
1 - 2" binder
12 - #2 pencils
1 - ruler with inches & centimeters
1 - pack of erasers
3 - packs of 200 ct wide rule paper
3 - pocket only folders
1 - 12 ct colored pencils
1 - pair scissors
2 - glue sticks
wet wipes
1 - hand sanitizer
2 - boxes tissues

High School Supply List:

4 - 2" 3 ring binders
25 - dividers with tabs (for the binders)
Plenty of college ruled paper
Black pens
Blue pens
Red pens
Pencils
Bible
Collegiate Dictionary
Scientific calculator

My DD will start high school this year. I was just thinking about the school supply list today. Maybe I will call to see if they have one. I certainly don't want to wait until everyone else is out shopping for school supplies on the first day of school.

Each teacher gives a school supply list and a week to "fill" the order. lol I try to keep up on stocking normal needed supplies. I know my middle kid will need a good backpack this year. Other than that we have to wait. I'm sure we will need a few binders, just not sure what size or color yet.

my first grader needs:
2 boxes of crayons
scissors
pencils
pencil top erasers
glue sticks
zipered pencil pouch
1 pack loose leaf paper
3 notebooks (red, blue, green)
1 marble composition notebook
2 folders no prongs ( purple, yellow)
bookbag
disinfecting wipes
tissues
paper towels

We have been told our 8th graders will get their supply list on the open house night prior to the start of the school year.

And my oldest hasn't completely decided what all she thinks she needs to haul of to college with her.

fees are quite common here. it's not so bad. we never have to send money during the year.
that's interesting!

so that $45 covers all field trips and extra 'stuff' so you won't be nickled & dimed to death over the course of the school year?!

that would be worth it then!!

I have a friend in South Carolina that said her local public school has a "registration fee" based on your lunch status of :

free lunch $free
reduced lunch $9
regular lunch $30

The school's reasoning is: "due to reduced local & state revenue."

Seriously, I would refuse to pay for public school registration.

She said high school parking permits are $60/year

last year we never had to send anything or any extra money.

i am all for just paying once rather then over and over again. there is fundraising during the school year and sometimes they'll have pizza lunches or whatever, but they are optional.

i should mention that this is a small private school and tuition is so low i don't mind paying the activity fee. (public schools often still have activity fees...but they are usually less...maybe 15 or 20 dollars).

DD starts Pre K-4 on August 15th, I was told today that we will have the supply list for mid-week next week.

We did go to the used uniform sale and get her 3 jumpers, but still need to find some bloomers for underneath (they were out of her size). We got 3 jumpers for $36 total...they would each be $39 new! Also, her school tote from last year will be reused this year. She still needs new shoes, but is good on socks and bows. I got her a jacket on clearance in the spring.

We are doing pretty good so far! I want to get all that tucked away before my c-section on August 1st! :)

Okay, Dub's Kindergarten list is as follows:

2 boxes 8-10 Crayola Classic Markers (1 thick & 1 thin)
2 - 1” white, clear view, three ring binders
2 boxes of 24 pack regular size Crayons (not Jumbo)
bath size towel for rest time
8 sharpened regular size #2 pencils
2 box tissues
2 large pink eraser
Plastic space maker supply box 5” x 8”
1 pair of Fiskars scissors
1 backpack (not on wheels)
1 - 4 oz. bottle white Elmer’s liquid glue (not School glue)
1 container of wipes for hands and faces
1 set of 8 watercolor paints
1 container of disinfecting wipes for tables
8 small glue sticks
1 plain color heavy PLASTIC two-pocket folder
3 paper two-pocket folders without brads (red, blue, & yellow)
1 spiral notebook
Boys: 1 box sandwich size baggies and 1 bottle of hand soap (not hand sanitizer with alcohol)
Girls: 1 box gallon size baggies

Your child will need to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days
For Kindergarten DO NOT write your child’s name on supplies. They will be shared as a community in classroom.

We also had some fees to pay. But that was back in April and I don't remember what all it was. We did have to have his eyes checked, dental check, and a physical.

ok, that's not bad at all then. IMO. I was thinking you were talking about public school.

WOW! This seems like an enormous amount of stuff for a kindergartner. I don't know why, but it always bothered me when they said that the supplies would be "shared" in the classroom. I am a germaphobe so maybe that is it. LOL

Whoa! I am glad that my guys are doing the private correspondence high school. I checked the website for what grade the twins should be going in to (8th). There was a whole list of supplies and a $55 registration fee. Holy cow! A registration fee for public school?

There was no high school information on the website.
