For the open areas of your home - livingroom, entry, hallway, etc. Not the rooms that are separated (like bed and bath), but those that all flow into each other.

I've always gone with taupe walls and white trim, but am considering branching out a bit. I'd like a more casual feel in the next house, was considering light blue but I'm afraid I'd tire of it too quickly.

We have a muted green that has khaki undertones. I like it because it feels warm even on cold days, but in the summer doesn't feel heavy. KWIM?

Right now I'm using a "vintage" gold color. It's got an "old world" feel that matches my furniture, but I like the way it's bright enough, not to give it a "stiff" look. We have a white chair rail in the LR and DR, and the bottom color is a kinda cocoa colored brown. Keeps the rooms in a 2010 mode, giving it a modern edge to our formal European style. We love it.

In my informal family room, I have an old red brick wall, and cedar planks, so no painting in there. But I do try to mix in some of the gold color with my curtains, and table runners and all. It actually really "pops" against those deep reds in the bricks. I think I'm gonna like it for a pretty long time!

I don't even like to think about my 1973 kitchen , but I'm hoping to put up some painted beadboard. I don't think I'll be using the gold in there though. Kinda got my heart set on a green I spotted in Lowes. We'll see though.

Theresa :)

Livingroom, dining room kitchen and computer area are all a light sage green color. In the living room and dining room there is a chair rail that is a darker green and the bottom half is white.

A light chocolate/mocha color.

When we bought this house every single room was painted a different color.
*Living room #1 - mauve
*Living room #2 - a different shade of mauve
*Kitchen - darker yellow
*Bathroom #1 - lighter yellow
*Bathroom #2 - green
*Bedroom #1 - blue
*Bedroom #3 - gray
*Laundry room, Dining room and Sun room - dark, deep purple (sounds ugly but was the only color that wasn't 100% offensive to me)
*Hallway - off white
Two rooms had wallpaper boarder that was hideous and the other rooms all had crown molding, which I love.
This place was so colorful I felt like I was in a daycare or a clown had vomited. I quickly had the house repainted to a calmer look and feel. I just couldn't live with the "Welcome to Bozo's Fun House" feel it had with all of the colors.

My largest living room wall is lime green. Then it meets with the open kitchen wall that is dark melon. I'm living in a watermelon, I love it!! Hm, reminiscent of James & the Giant Peach eh?

Don't be afraid of color. I rented for years without painting, now there's not a room in my house that isn't a color of the rainbow.

White. Not off white or winter white or ivory, but white white. I rent in an apartment complex so I can't have it, but how I wish! One apartment I rented was like that, and the countertops in the kitchen area were also white. It was wonderful. It was bright, light, and any color you choose to decorate with looks stunning.

This one (long ago) had a dark rust shag carpet. Yeah. When I went in it was - OMG, what do I do with this? Not my color. I used lots of plants in clay pots, natural wicker furniture with grey blues and greens in a foliage pattern for the cushions -- it was like living in the Bahamas, and was the best apartment ever.

White. How I long for white again! And, once again, I see that Russ is a very smart cookie!
