I'm not talking Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw or Faith Hill. I'm talking George Jones, Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. What are your favorite artists, favorite songs and why?

It's really hard to eliminate the artists down to one favorite. I was raised listening to this kind of music and watching the Grand Ole Opry on TV. But I think my favorite is Loretta Lynn. She sings songs that almost eveyone could relate to. My all-time favorite movie is Coal Miner's Daughter and find it amazing that she overcame life's obstacles to make her dream of being a country music singer come true.

I love Loretta Lynn too! I love Johnny Cash, he's music is just so down to earth. I do like Geroge Jones too! I don't know if you consider John Anderson "old time". But I love him! I got to go to concert of his about ten years ago. Wow it was one of the best. He has such a down home stage presents. I like almost everthing he sings! I like alot of the new stuff too, but then again I love a variety of music.

I remember my mother ironing in the dining room and she would have the radio on and we would sing. My mom loved Tammy, Loretta, Merle, Johnny Cash. Brings back memories! Whenever I hear an old song it brings me back to those days. She loved the old country songs. I am not a country fan now but every now and again I will hear a song surfing the radio.

:wave2: I'm a country girl stuck in the city :lol: I was raised on country music & lived part time on my grandparents farm so I love country music.
Dolly Pardon
Kenny Rogers
The Oakridge Boys
Tammy Wynette
Loretta Lynn
George Jones {one of my all time favorites}
One of the reasons I like it so much is because all my good childhood memories are at my grandparents farm with them in the barn & with my horses. And at night my grandma would put on the records and my grandpa would have me put my feet on his and he taught me to dance. Then when I was 11 he died and all that ended {except me staying with my grandma at thier house}
Those times are precious memories for me now that they are both gone.

I wouldn't put George Strait in the ''new'' category. He has staying power obviously.

I LOVE old time country music! I was raised on it (I'm 28). And, right now I'm listening to Johnny Cash's cd "The Legend of Johnny Cash". He is one of my favorites! Although, I do like today's country, I like old country much better because it was more real, and it was more about the song instead of the artist. My favorites are Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, and like I said Johnny Cash. :)

Roy Clark is my favorite classical-country male. George Strait is my favorite current-country male.

The early Dolly Parton is my favorite classical-country female (think Johua, Coat of Many Colors, and Jolene). I don't really have a current favorite female.

I also really like the Statler Brothers.
