My thinking Amy is if it is a great deal and you would be saving money getting it and will use it then stock up. Esp if it is practical stuff. My dd just came home w big can of hot choc and candy canes. I said we had candy canes from last year lol hidden in cold closet. which reminds me if I have a bunch of choc and candy last year hidden. There is going to be a lot of candy this xmas.

well have shopped so stocked on veggies, fruit, cat food etc. bought dinner rotissere chicken, frozen fries and veggies that day for easy dinner. need more milk , creamo will get tonight. apparently we were out of hot choc hence dd shopping cus her and dh drink it everyday now. did pick up peppermint mocha international delight.

used hamburger helper, lb of hamburger, bread, cheese, milk etc hotdogs, buns, rest of the garden tomatoes, the formentioned fries etc. pack of tortenilli and rose sauce. peanut sauce , moldy peppers gone. plus old cook in a bag bags into recycling.

Elsi! yes that is a good plan. Wow that is $$$ for eggs esp for your area. Here something is going on w eggs last week no eggs at walmart and now the ones I have be in for work..says min 2 so means people will start to freak and hoard. not like on sale. don't know if bird flu or just the weather holding up trucks since they use different suppliers.

Hikr those are all good ideas. I just don't want to cook lol leftovers samosas tonight. think because the ham was frozen first wasn't as nice but got dh to buy rolls so he can make sandwiches. we got creamo and pet litter tonight.

lol Hikr I do that already.. dh sliced up all the ham so dd has just been nuking pieces and dh making sandwiches. I did make lentil and ham soup but it tastes like cinnamon in it but don't know how ..kinda spoils it maybe the dry onion flakes? didn't feel like cutting fresh onion. so think most of the soup will be dumped for wildlife. . Reminds me to bring cookies we were given to my friend. from sil and don't know if dh can eat them. just choc chip.mom passed them on to us.

Ds came home and said wow at this bakery chain you can get great sandwiches w real food same price as mcds. said yes lots of places are like that. Yep just you guys and dh were picky and dh really picky..way better but still allergies etc. He doesn't remember all the aunts, nana etc baking. still miss dh aunt baking.

hotdog buns went to raccoons started to mold, ham half gone and bits, fat etc to crows. left over rice and stir fry to crows too. frozen pink lemonade, milk, cheese, hotdogs, the xmas leftovers, celery etc. dh will get milk and bread tomorrow.

made roasted broccoli for the first time..good! got a big discounted bag of cut broccoli and realized family isn't going to eat broccoli cheese soup. so had half a bag to use about cup was off so compost. plus my mom had passed on spring green salad mix so pulled that out for make your own salad if you want. w the chicken lasagna from freezer.

No Hikr soggy oats is not my thing lol ds I think did it more as a trendy thing to try. I know he doesn't touch my plain yogurt lol hasn't figured out you can just add brown sugar or jam etc. but then family really doesn't eat jam. Dh is allergic to oats..everything but white processed flour but kids aren't. I miss a good bowl of cooked oatmeal.

The store I worked at had a good frozen entree sale so got 2 more things for easy meals. another seafood lasgana and chicken cheddar bake which they won't be thrilled w but no mac n cheese in stock. used up the bbq ribs, fries and a can of baked beans last night. rest of ham and box of mac n cheese which I threw in the rest of the jalapeno cheddar dip. been using up the salad w the cherry tomatoes, mini peppers and cukes. just what ever they will eat.

going shopping in states so will be stocking up on kroger things I like. got a ham on sale the other day sitting in the fridge.

I need to do an inventory check too. after the stockup at xmas a boxfull still sitting downstairs and now a trip across the border yesterday. need to just do a resort , stuff to be used up first etc. bags still sitting on the dining room table. Mostly deals that are way cheaper there even w exchange. Sales switched to have to buy to get deal so got more of some things then I would normally of kroger brands. some stuff from walmart..cookies for dh etc.

4 boxes of tacos shells, 4 cans of rotel, 5 2lb bags of shredded cheese, 4 their version of cool whip, couple cans of blk beans, 4 boxes of hamburger helper, couple brownie mixes, chili seasoning packs. el paso burritos..for some reason not up here since covid. taquitos too. bag of frozen grands. 2 jars alfredo sauce. edwards ind lemon pies. half size frozen veggies, big bag of english muffins. more but can't remember. no milk eggs or meat etc.

sooo yes stocked! thinking a batch of black bean chili soon to use up a bunch of cans.

Lifeframes I think it depends where you live and what you are used too. I am spoiled here so somethings I don't make like japanese or chinese easier and cheaper to buy. But yes house full of food and no one wants what is in the house. Sometimes it is the experience or they just want something different I can see that cus I am bad like that. like brownies instead of cookies. cheezies instead of chips lol

I started going on about the ramen so kids eating it. I can't eat it or dh so is bought for them as snack or easy meal.

cake mix and can of icing used up, carton of eggs, jug of milk, rest of bag of frozen fries and bag of chicken strips. 1 sausage roll left out of pack of 3. leftover potatoes from my brunch bought home. ramen, pack of oreos. creamo etc.

have chinese leftovers so that was dinner last night and today. plus lunch for me. just need to make more plain rice to go with it. dh picked up bread, milk and yogurt for his lunches since back at work. bread is moldy so have to get more and pick up ham and cheese sub pack for the boys lunches at walmart. just as cheap as making it and don't like making sandwiches so it works. and dh can eat ham and cheese all the time.

true Elsi if you don't have a plan then food gets wasted. Frozen works because still better then eating out all the time Spirit..I wish the salad kits were that cheap here more like $5 and only works for one meal. Getting low on fresh veg so need to go to farm market I haven't been for a long time better and cheaper veg. they have meat, bakery etc too. will take my mom she hasn't been for a long time. Moved things in the fridge and found some camzozla cheese I bought for me I forgot. so need to eat that. not cheap!

lol hikr I would do that too but kids make their own just boil hot water and pour in cup. just they just tend not to eat it when you stock up. esp ds. . Life ooh 3 boys.. I feel for you.. they eat a lot ! cheaper foods but healthy does help fill in the holes. ethic foods are good for that.. but man I just have one and he eats..not as bad as growing years but still more then dd ever did.

threw out sour cream expired in nov and the unopened exp yesterday. made blk bean chili in slow cooker.. 2 cans blk beans, big can diced tomatos, sm can of rotel w chiles, an onion, some sm peppers, chili spice mix and added spices. some minced garlic. little can of tomato paste. can of corn.

turns out a lot of my cans of tomato products are more italian based so will use them up in spaghetti sauce.

will try to remember what we ate.. meals seem to be cook once and eat for days. and the salad mix I got from mom I put out for people to eat w dinner nope. just told dh ..too full from ham. I guilted him into it. he doesn't eat veggie unless I do it. bought fruit and veggies bread dairy etc. will get more tomorrow. cold cuts, yogurt for lunches. the reg stuff.

besides the usual ice cream cookies coffee bread milk etc that gets used up. hot choc etc. bananas . froze some of the chili and gave away some to friend w the white leftover rice for her hubby. some things like avocados went bad and couple bananas so out w the plants.

2lbs pork/beef w onion soup mix parm rinds for meatloaf, the bag of nugget potatoes, the yam, reheated tonight w the ham. 1lb of pergories w lb of bacon and a onion w sour cream. cut off the extra fat and skin off ham for the crows. they get bread too that goes off. same w raccoons. few takeout days and dd lives off mac n cheese cups or ham. sandwiches w cold cuts. so beer sausage and bavarian meatloaf and sub buns gone. block of cheese gone too.

my mom used to make touriere pies but don't think the family likes them. can buy them frozen here too. weird googled recipe and first one you put mashed potatoes in it ..never heard of that before.

did online grocery shop and delivery friday of what we needed which is mostly on sale plus the good deals. 3lb gala apples 2.79 a bag, no more dollar sales on the store brand chips but 1.49 so got 5 to stock up. their fancy ice cream 3.49 half gallon so 2, boxes of cereal, 3 packs of hotdogs since under $5 . plus pet litter whiskas dry food , bread products, milk etc. 220 dollars later.. some reason you get lots of points when doing it this way so used them for free milk and olive oil. garlic bread and the sale frozen lasagna for dinner tonight w salad. we picked up pop across the border too we don't get here.

ham is gone and bone frozen, pack of frozen pasta, cheese, ginger bread, odds and ends of course. think one pack of hotdogs gone too.
