The living history museum where I work depicts life in Wichita, KS from 1869-1880. The women did work very hard. If I could chose a period in American history in which to live, I think I would chose the 1950's. During the post-war baby boom. The home we live in was built during that period. I can just imagine what the neighborhood was like back then, filled with children. There are not many children here now. Most of the homes are occupied by retirees or empty nesters. I would have loved to be a stay at home mom in that time, when that profession was more common.
