My brother-in-law works for the city of Sheridan. It is in a gorgeous location. Prairie and the Tetons. Their family loves it there! Finding housing was a bit of a problem when they first got there because it was a very popular place to be. Don't know how that has changed. Not sure about other things.
Look up the city website and investigate things. It would probably tell you where to look for recreation, healthcare, etc. Do a search on the hospital for the area and see if they have a good website. Yellow pages search on doctors will tell you what specialties are there. My sister did have a baby there and has had kids in the hospital for things. Hasn't been unhappy with things but they are also a younger family. I know "elder care" could be a bit different.
Check out a Chamber of Commerce website about Sheridan.
My sister would probably tell you to come on over.
Thanks. We've been looking into it but it's hard to really get a feel for the community from websites. We know we can't get as much bang for the housing buck there as here. The hospital does have a good website and it looks like they have a lot of specialists.
I was just looking at video of flooding in Sheridan last year. That's one thing we don't have to worry much about where we are now, so it's something to think about if we're planning to move. That, and the Yellowstone supervolcano deciding to go kerflooey.
It's so funny. We were in Yellowstone in 1977 and after that, really tried to move to Cody but it didn't work out. It took me thirty-five years to get my husband to go back to YS and we finally went out there again in 2010. Now he'd pack up today and MOVE out there! I'm a little more cautious but that doesn't mean I'm above using the idea as an excuse to help motivate him to get rid of clutter around here. ~cackle~ We do want to be ready in case we decide to move. We have a few years yet, but time flies and everything takes longer than expected.
We just got a lot of wind, then it rained hard for maybe 3 minutes, then the sun came out. I think Ft. Collins got more rain than we did, as while riding to work yesterday morning I noticed the roads there were still wet. Greeley seems to be in a "bubble", either the weather goes around us, or we are the only ones to get it. LOL.
